yep fished it last weekend, lake is just over a foot low and very stumpy, kind of hard to get around after you get out of the boat lanes. there is even a few stumps getting dangerously close to the surface in some of the boat lanes. now is a good time to go if you are looking for a chance at a insurance claim. the bream have been biting prettty good, and the crappie have been slow to fair. we need some rain to get the lake level back up. the lake conway home owners assosiacition is the ones to blame for the lake being low. before they became such a problem for the lake we had a constant inflow of water even in the dry seasons coming into the lake from Conways water treatment facility. but the home owners assosiation cried till they got that water stopped from coming into the lake.
I think I'll steer clear for a while. Thanks for the report guru.
I fished it last week also. Lake is pretty low and stumpy, but always is imo. I did fairly well on brush piles in 10-12 fow with a lot of shade. Pretty tight to cover and a lot of dinks, but thats going on everywhere right now i think. Caught almost as many bass as crappie.
Where do u find water 10 - 12 feet deep in Conway?
Lol! It's few and far between, but most of the old lakes have some deep spots and the channels run 10-14 ft.
I tried it again this morning for a couple hours after sinking some brush. Same as the other day, crappie and bass, but the bite is SLOW!!! I think i'm gonna let that brush settle for a couple weeks and try my luck at maumelle!!
I found some stumps in the boat lanes back when the water was up to normal level this past spring. Had to replace a prop.
To me Conway is underrated as a good summer Crappie Fishery. Look back through my posts and pics from the last few summers and you will see why I say that. Yes it does get a little tougher in the summer to catch em. But a man with a 10 or 11 foot jig pole who knows what hes doing on the front of a boat can put a consistant catch rate of 10-20 good fish most days. I will be out there in the morning to try and put a hurting on em. I will let you know how it goes. I love low water levels and bright sunny hot days in the summer, which make the fish pull that much tighter to cover and shade on Conway.. Tight Lines...
Good luck Crappiepro! Crappiekeeper and myself are set to start our milk run of brushpiles and stakebeds in the mornimg here on Nimrod. Hope we can get off the lake before it gets too hot!
