The wife and I are going to Pickwick this weekend and I've never been before. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

pull cranks below the dam for stripers?
Where will you be staying? One day trip, weekend?
Get with Joel and Larry for a fun time.
If y'all around yellow creek you might try the back side of
Goat island
Joel can put you on some.

I've got a place on the lake just above the dam and my advice, where ever you fish on the lake, is to get out early. Cause by bout 10 on the weekends that lake turns into a circus. Will make it tough, but like Tushhog said, get on the backside of goat island and you might have some luck. Hope you catch a boat load!
Nothing but small ones (9"-11") on backside of Goat Island this past weekend. Yes, get out extremely early because you will get run over after 10 oclock. North of Goat Island, up the west bank and then along north bank is where you should find some better fish, 12'-14' in 18'-20' of water.
What's the size limit on Crappie at Pickwick?

The limits are 9" and 30 per person.
Y'all have fun!!! And be safe!!!

That's it! I'm out on Pickwick. Any joint that would have Gator as a guest is just beneath my status. Pffft.
Wannabe...
Whew !!! I can tell the water patrol to "stand down" since you aint coming to Pickwick. I had them on "High Alert" for boating accidents, I told them they might be a feller coming from the south and he had little to no fish catchin skills ( kinda like myself) and that he has "Movie Star" hair and would be cruising up and down the river and waterway causing boating accidents from folk being distracted by his hair. They were relieved to hear he may not come and said they would go back to looking for folks runnin up and down the water and catching fish. LOL
Ok, if I do catch any fish does any of you want them? My freezer is full....

You would probably make him very happy giving him 3 fish.
hey wilbur....you know he's not going to catch 3 fish.....just one big one....come on get with it will ya.....Sheeeesh!
I guess that makes it easier cleaning, Sorry.
If you are staying around the dam/state park area, The Catfish Farm on hwy 57 is good. Smoked catfish is the house specialty, it's on the spicy side, but my favorite local dish. The have a good shrimp boil too. Looks like a dive on the outside, but they are renovating. The full parking lot is a better indication of the food than the building itself.
I haven't been up therein a couple of weeks, but when we went in early June my Aunt told me about a new steak and catfish place in Michie. I can't remeber the name of the place but its right on the hwy when you get into Michie. I was a good alternative to the places up by the Dam. Hagy's is good but it get very busy on the weekends.
Top of The River, it's good too, got a $20 platter that will feed 2. Filled me up and I had leftovers, and I tend to eat hearty when I go out

Gator where you are staying I would go to Country Squire only about three miles from you and good food, if you want to drive up to the dam the Catfish Farm is where we usually eat if we're up that way and always enjoy the food and there not as pricey as some of the other places. I will try to make it over Friday night and see ya'll for a little while.
That sure looks good...
But were staying in Iuka. And that would be a ways out of our way.
This is really the first time I've been there and don't know where anything is....
Got to meet Maachuu Friday night in Iuka so will be staying in the Victoria Inn.
Also hope to see Olebigum too.
THANKS EVERYONE for all the info.
Minnerman has me so confused I might have to stay two nights....LOL
And Oldbigum any fish we catch you are welcome to. We don't have any space in our freezer... Otherwise I will be throwing them back....

Sounds good to me, we have a big fish fry coming up and they would help!
