Just returned from an Awesome walleye trip in South Dakota
If anyone is looking for a good trip to fish for Walleye. Look into Lake Oahe South Dakota. I fished for three days with my wife and we caught around 150 Walleyes. The majority of the fish were just good eating size 16 to 18 inches but we caught several over 20 inches to include one at 25 inches around 6 pounds. We used a guide one day but it was not needed as we caught fish everywhere we went. The Pike and smallmouth were also huge and a great fight on an ultralight and four pound line. This was very inexpensive compaired to my trips to Minnesota and Canada in the past the week only cost us around $700 with gas being the greatest expence. Here are a few pictures.

More details and answers to some quesions
I started out pulling plugs (flicker shad and bandit 200s) and that worked great but I had never tried bottom bouncers so I learned how to use them and they also worked great. I caught some of the bigger fish pulling plugs but the largest fish was caught on a bottom bouncer with a minnow drifting. The folks up that way troll really fast for Walleyes at 2.25 to 3MPH but I did just fine between 1.50 and 2.00 MPH trolling. We stayed at the Log Heaven resort this place was world class with made to order breakfast each morning. I did not fish below the dam but guys were doing well down there as well. I spent most of my time between spring creek and the main lake. The Pike in the picture was 32 inches and around 12 pounds so it makes the Walleyes look small, it was my wifes biggest fish so she wanted to keep it. The bones made cleaning it a challenge but I had a local guy help show me how to bypass the Y bones and it turned out fine. We were only allowed to take two days of a limit home so we ate a few fish while we were there. The mornings started out in the high 40s and went up to around 80 during the day. I highly recommend this as a trip it took me about nine hours from Kansas city area pulling the boat but it was worth the time. feel free to send me any quesions if you are looking to head up that way. I believe this is a much better deal then Minnesota or Canada. Also a great way to scout if you are looking to head up that way to Pheasant hunt in the fall.
