Im pretty new to jig tying and just wanted to say hello to you all. I made these today. Its pretty amazing the amount of satisfaction
you get from pooring your own jig and making your own flies/jig. I have alot of fun doing it. Im thinking this will be a good
muddy water jig. Im also curious what thoughts you guys may have on eyes? do you really think its worth the time to paint
eyes on a jig. Does it really make a difference to the fish?

Eyes are more for what you feel will work in your fishing situations. Some people swear by them, some thing they are a waste. Find what works best, do some eyes for the experience and the practice.

Next. I paint eyes for customers when they ask for them, but I do not put eyes on my personal jigs. If you like the thread showing then they are fine, personally I don't like the thread showing on my jigs and it's easy to hide. Just warp tight up against the head and whip finish.
Not sure if you cut the marabou on the tail or not, but if you did you should cut length from the end you tie in. Also On most of my marabou I tear off the barbules from the stem to tie my tails and only leave the stem if it's very tiny. You get better action without the stem.
Just my personal things to say as constructive comments, not really criticizing. Other than this they look good and will catch fish!

For my own jigs, I never paint eyes unless it is over a glow paint. I don't know what the correct answer to that question to be honest w ya tho!
Looks like you may be using the tips cut from stem. In which case, there is no stem anyways. Will work as good as if you stripped em, lined em up then cut em. Way better movement then hackle however you cut it. Or cut it.

However you wrap it, don't cut it afterwards.
I try not to leave thread exposed but there are some very successful jigs that the thread is out there exposed Some that are even tied by members here and used by fisherman on the greatest sac lakes in MS. SO whose to say what's right or wrong. Threadnecks are just missing chenille
It's mostly style to sport fisherman. Fish just wanna eat.
Have fun tying and catching fish on those jigs. Bc no matter what anyone says, they WILL catch fish all day long.
Welcome fro Middle Tennessee. Jigs look good, to each his own. As you see different ways others tie you'll adapt what you like to your style. Those will catch fish.

I to dont like thread collars but again each to his own its not that they wont work ...... because we all know they will its just me
as far as tails marabou I do both thick stem and thin you seem to get a different action with each which is always good
as far as eyes it just what ever you want crappie jigs catch as many fisherman as they do fish lol

You tied a good looking jig. Like the others have said don't cut the tail after it is tied and leave the end tips to give it a good flow in the water. I'm seeing more jigs tied with a thread collar while using chenille and that is the tyer's choice of how to finish his jig. If you like tying them that way that's great :) Lots of folk are catching many fish using em.

I like your jigs, nice work, to me its about being different and not tying the same ole same ole slater type jig everybody else ties .be creative and if you have confidence in your jigs you will always catch fish on them .
I use stick on eyes on kids that have eye sockets. On other jigs I don't bother.
Your jigs look nice, but as others have said, don't cut the end after you tie in the feather. Tie it to length and snoop the butt end and you will get better action. Thread necks are OK for crappie since they have no teeth, but for toothy fish it's better to bury the thread as much as possible so the teeth don't tear up the jig as easily.

Just my opinion........your tying and enjoying what your doing. You jumped in and are trying.
Your jigs look good to you and as time goes by, you will try new techniques. I believe your
jigs will catch fish, and that is the bottom line. Welcome to the site and good luck catching
fish with jigs you tied yourself. It is a good feeling when you catch fish with something you
created with your own hands.
