As long as no trash gets under the activating mechanism they are fine. Trash + arm jam = dead battery....
If you don't leave your boat in the water why would you need that?
My overflow on the live well has a problem. Not sure on what to do. I have two pumps on my live well, 1 pumps water in, and 1 pumps water from one end of live well to spray bar on other end. It has a stove pipe overflow. If you leave the pump that fills the live well on too long it starts overflowing into bottom of boat. Instead of going out overflow back into lake. I think the problem is the drain for overflow is too far down (beneath water surface) to allow water to drain. Anyhow, I'm putting this float switch in as a precaution to keep from filling boat with water.

The first thing I do when I get a new boat is either put a float switch on the bilge or replace it with an automatic bilge pump!!!! Too many years on the Mississippi River taught me that lesson!!!!
Last time crappiehooker and I went fishing, we really got busy catching fish and forgot to turn live well fill pump off... I was on the bow and he was in the passenger seat, he said "hey Gator is the boat sinking?"... Filled whole battery/ fuel cell compartment up... Good thing I had a bulge pump... Or our day would of been done....
Do any of ya have a clue as to why live well overflow isn't working?

Gator, If the overflow wasnt working the water would come over the top, not go in the bilge. You probably have a cracked fitting or leaky hose in the bilge. next time you turn the pump on look in the bilge and see if waters coming in.
Gator.....thats probably because your live well is under the same deck as your batterys and fuel compartment. My live well is in front of my console so it runs out into the floor and then into the bilge. The pump....I forget how many gallons per min but it pumps faster than that stand pipe can take it out. Like I say....I fill it half way then turn my timer on and the timed system keeps it full without over flowing.
Yea, their under the same deck. Heck you know you had same boat. I added a recirculation pump and aireator pump. I need to add a timer to recirculation pump. And pay more attention when filling livewell. I can run air pump all day with no worries, it doesn't draw anything...

I say if you need it go for it, good for saftey and all but even tho you buy one check that plumbing. It will end the problrm for sure!
Doesn't ur live well fill nozzle have an adjustment to restrict water flow? Most of them have an adjustment to make it spray more or less and that will let less water into the live well while filling and maybe the overflow pipe can handle that..
Nope, its old school....1981

O well,,,, however, if u ever down fishing the Rez, stop by and we'll restrict it if u want...
This is why I installed the re circulation pump. I would ideally fill it up, turn off fill pump, turn on recirculation pump and turn on air pump. I do need to install a timer on recirculation pump.

Id fix the problem first as well as install the auto switch--better piece of mind.
If the aerator pump only pumps for 30 seconds every three minutes, unless you buy an adjustable one, it will give the overflow time to drain between cycles.

The adjustable timers let you set the amount of DELAY time, which controls how often it runs for 30 seconds.

BTW, when you get a bunch of fish in the live well, sometimes the fish block the overflow drain. YOU usually wont have this problem!!! LMAO

My live well is welded aluminum. It sits down inside a pop riveted compartment. I sealed l the gaps in this compartment so this will prevent water from going into rear compartment and gives the live well a 2" safety margin. Incase of overfilling.
