I just put a SS on my alum boat and your setup looks close to mine....I justtook the skimmer off and put the Ss transducer where the skimmer was......Work good except under speed and I have never had a fish finder work under speed on an alum boat
You may have some problems with turbulence from that pitot tube being so close.
The speed would definitely come off and the high dollar si trans wouldn't be the closest object to that trailer bunk . I would almost want it about 4-6 inches to the inside of the bunk but it may be more reasonable to replace the skimmer with it
Or you could go to the other side!!
I like my SS transducer closer to the center of the boat. I would put it closer to the drains, or between the bunk and the drain, if you have engine clearance. If not, the other side will work fine. That way you can still have 2D sonar also. Removing the skimmer will eliminate your 2D.

Does lowrance not have 2d built into their transd?? Or Do you mean no 2d at higher speeds ??
A couple more questions. Do you think speedo pickup is causing problems with the 2D transducer because of turbulence? I don't get much of a picture when running 20+ mph. It was that way when I bought the boat but now would be time to make changes.
Also from back of boat to motor (in tucked position) is 7". I think the LSS-2 tansducer is quite a bit longer than that. How far should I stay away from motor to avoid interference there? I know up to speed the Structure won't be reading anyway.
Thanks for all the input guys! Keep it up! I only hope to have to do this install once :)

You may have to get a different mount for your transducer. One that will "kick up" if it hits an interference. The transducer needs to sit below the bottom of the boat. When your boat is up on plane, hardly any of the back end is below the water surface. Transducer needs to be below water surface and NO AIR between bottom of transducer and water.
I ended up moving the Speedo pilot tube to the opposite side of motor, and installed Structure Scan transducer within a foot of the Sonar transducer, but also kept it a foot away from motor. Sonar was set low enough to work up on plane but SS transducer was set higher to protect it. Anyway it works Awesome!! View is fantastic! An Awesome upgrade from what was on the boat. Truly amazing!
I still want to get the SS Transducer set at level with the boat running 4mph by GPS but I have not took time to get it done yet :)
Thanks Guys for all your help and suggestions!
