but is there much difference in spider rigging with 12ft vs 14ft poles? Will the longer pole mean more fish--ie less spook or would it be minimal?

It gets you a little further from the boat. I used 12 ft. poles at first.....just thought the others were too long, but I finally gave in and went to 14 ft. poles. Don't really know that it made that much difference but hey......you got to have a reason to get new fishing stuff every now and then.
What did i tell you on phone not even a hr agobanghead:deadhorse
ES , WB yall have a new team member headed up in the ranks.:cheers2
BTW, with yer catch rate, you might want to look into some 30'ers. BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!'

David I still use 12fters,thinking of switching to 14's.Have not done bad with the 12's,but i would think the 14's would have to be a little better.I still do alot of jig fishing and the 12's is what i had when i started trolling.
Get you some good 12fter,s and you will be just fine. They only 3 times as long as youRoflRofl

can't argue that
I use the 16.5 slow trol rods from BM. if sinker is at 12 foot deep. The fish is in hand without reeling.
I dont think it would make that much difference. In deeper water the hooks would be below the trolling motor and spawning fish in shallows will hit almost ANYTHING. If you gotta buy rods get the lengths you want and you wont be re-buying them later thinking it will make a difference. Just my 2 cents worth...
[QUOTE=BigRiverMarine;1917012]I got some 16' you can borrow!!!
heck that's almost as long as my boat:)
On the water, you won't see much difference in the lengths, they all look to short at times!!! We caught our fish in 2 fow Saturday, and I think the longer rods (16') helped us by not spooking the fish in that shallow of water!!!!!

i use 16 footers year round and love them
I'll chip in a buck a pole if you'll get the 16 footers and take a pic of you standing next to them straight up and post it.
I'm pretty sure we can get these jokers paid for if more will post their pledges.

At least you can try em BEFORE ya buy em!!!!!
Very true
I will pledge a buck.
I run 14 footers and really like them and if your worried about spooking the fish mount your racks as far forward as you can. My 14's are as far out as BRM's 16's because his racks are about 2 feet farther back on his boat than mine.
Go ahead and get the longer poles and be done with it. Won't have to upgrade later. Barbie aint that much taller than you and she handles them just fine.
I use 12s mostly but I have 14s too. The main thing is finding poles with backbone but a limber tip so you can see the bites.
Dolla for dolla It's hard to beat a bgjp. But I run Capps and Coleman's. Sorta wish I'd gone 16' but 14 works well.
U took the short joke so well, I'm inspired to up my pledge to $1.06 per pole.
