I'm replacing the wire that goes from my batteries to my trolling motor. It was #12 the new stuff is #6. Big difference!

Good thing your rewireing to a bigger size......dont forget to install a circuit breaker also

Yep, 6 is better than 12. I burn fuse housings at speed 4. I need to upgrade.
#12 AWG is only rated for 20 amps. #6 AWG is good for 70 amps. Minn Kota 80 lbs thrust draws 60 amps @ 24 volts. That's what size breaker you need. It should be installed at the source. (battery).
And that's our electrical lesson for the day!!!!!! Lol

Gator what kind of wire do you use?
He used an oxygen free 6ga. copper. Multi stranded with much less resistance!!
