Getting closer i know that
I hear people are starting to catch them in deeper water. I need to get a sticker for that lake. A friend of mines father-inlaw just a bought a house on the water and he is wanting to start fishing that lake.
Hoping the warm weather and rain brings some big changes in the near future!! Hoping to see mushy pinkinsh color instead of bright yellow!!! Good luck everybody, be safe, weather not looking too cooperative next few days, hope Sandy is wrong lol.
Fish are really scattered about and not near as consistent as years past but they to have yet to get really going after this sucky weather.
thanks toaster i want to get a sticker for bloom but havent made it over there yet ne advice on fishing this lake would b helpful never even seen it
Great news
Slab, Lake Bloomington is very different from evergreen as there is not much wood and shoreline structure. Areas around some docks can be good at times but you have to be mindful of the residents and respect their space, some can be cantankerous and cause you problems but most are very nice. Many crappie guys on this lake hit the same spots as everybody else and milk them dry. Post spawn can be very good like evergreen if your style of fishing fits where the fish move to;). I live at LK BLM so I fish it more than evergreen and the size of fish is usually equal but evergreen can be better for size in summer if you fish for the deep ones. Like some of the other guys, I am ready for the fish to spawn and get the rush out of the way so the crowds die down.
Hopefully they will be spawning soon
I am very hopeful they begin spawning early next week, that would probably be in cahoots with Iow-A, which would work well for us!! We just might actually hit it this year!!
as long as it doesn't rain my friend. I'm just glad we have more fishing time this year. Especially after last years fiasco.
Tell me about it guppy!! Dont forget your quarter bag, and im not talking weed!! Real George Washington quartes!!
thanks for th info guys i appreciate the feedback
jbgud, so are you guys going tuesday or is it still wed.....?
TT
Were leaving Tuesday after i get off of work at 11am. Prob hit it about 2, no rush. Got the xtra day lic
thank u toaster that helps alot and yes u are right it will b nicer once th spawn is over, it's getting crazy out there, u dont want to sit in one spot to long or u will be invaded
Speck, fished saturday and was surprised at how many boats were there, most I have seen in a few years at one time. Many guys hammering the same spots and catching dinks over and over, they would leave and another would pull up within minutes and catch the same 6inch fish, must admit it made me chuckle. I did not fish any of my go to spots as there were to many prying eyes. Fishing was decent, I fished deep away from the banks with a jig on the very bottom and caught my share of big ones. Casting and reeling would only get me the dinks. Evergreen seems to be just the opposite pattern, fished sunday and threw jigs shallow and caught decent fish.
that a way toaster, u gotta keep em guessin isnt it funny how people act, my dad was at evergreen last week and found a honey hole, and just like i said people saw him sitting and came to investigate so he just pulled his lines up close to the boat and sat there eating a sandwich was long and they left and he continued to catch his limit i didnt see them but he said they were nice ones
So next time I go there I need to look for a guy eatin lunch? Is that correct. Any boat description you can give me would be helpfull.
hahahaha...good one wilbur
now now wilbur i cant tell u everything, nobody helped him, i guess it was his skill after all he is 80 years old and deserves a good day without hassles
God bless him. I doubt i will make 80.
i just hope if i do make 80 i can still fish
Im hoping for 42
As of 5:00PM today there is some ice in coves and water is flowing over the spillway. The boat launch is open but the boat dock is still tied off to the shore and would be hard to use. Hope to get out on the water within the next few weeks to see how much the water temp has climbed and try to find some crappie! Won't be long if the temps stay like this and keep rising.
Thanks for the update.....Just sent my renewal for sticker last week.
