I would like to hear some reports too. We will be going down the week of May 14th and curious if the spawn may be sooner than normal.
I had read that the shad treatment worked well, but also took out alot of walleye in the process. They were not expectng that. Sounds like they stocked a few more too. I think the treatment was the winter before last, so everything should be fine by now.
Here is a fishing report on Sugema put out by the Iowa DNR on the 19th of this month.
"Lake Sugema contains the invasive plant brittle naiad so make sure not to transport any plant fragments in your equipment. Crappies and bluegills have begun biting in the shallows and largemouth bass fishing is starting to pick up. Try small jigs for the crappies and bluegills and baits like spinnerbaits or crankbaits for the bass. Focus on areas that will warm quicker than the rest of the lake like northern shorelines that receive the most sunlight."
Not yet, but soon will be!! Will be checking this post for updates!!
we will be there the same time Iowa
Any recent news to provide on the lake, hoping they turn on right about now!!
Jnebgud, What dates are you going to be there? We stay at Red Fox on the lake.
What you do belowparr,?? Hack jnebgud's account? I think the ? was directed to him not you
TT
Lmao
I'm not liking all this rain we have got this month so far. I bet Van Buren County has had around 6 inches this month.
Couple years back Sugema got 7 inches of rain the week before we got there. The lake was up about 6 feet. Boat docks and fishing jetties were completely under water. You literally had to pull your boat up to the trees, pull the branches to the side, and flip your jig toward the shore. Tough fishing and the bite was slow.
Looks like it may be a fairly dry week though. Hope so.
Any reports yet?
we were there for that it was terrible
Yeah, that was the year of the Ghosts 15" frozen slab-o-sorous
That thing looked like death warmed over. That was our first year there and the fishing sucked...still does;)
That was good though Ghost!! I like rewatching the video from that year in the lake when Butch wouldn't turn around when you were holding it up, im guessing he was laughing his a$$ off!!
didnt someone get sick on that trip? bad food or something
Didn't someone get slapped??
I thought the fishing was pretty good....What bout you jbgud? I vaguely remember our boat not having a problem at all catching fish, yes the lake was high but the bite was on, at least for our boat. Now for the other boat being guided by that guy that looked like he was a bee keeper, well, the only thing they caught were a bunch of snags and you could follow the bobber trail back to Mt. Sterling to AJ's. Yea, I do remember somebody getting sick, a couple of them and I also remember somebody holding up the kitchen counter at 3am..........Ah for the good times and memories....
TT
LMAO...bee keeper...priceless.
Bite was good that year. Not too many snags as water was so high, floated right over tops of trees, unless you decided to leave your anchor on the bottom when moving from spot to spot to get "a feel," for actual bottom structure :) someone holding up counter? I vaguely remember that picture in my head of the counter holder upper, kinda hard to have tears in eyes from laughing so f**king hard!! Hard to forget next day with the chunks all over someones boat.. Only one person i know could have done that
and i wasnt even at the bar!! "Nights I cant remember, with friends i'll never forget." Tobey Keith
