Good video. Thanks for posting. Please feel free to post other vids of jig tying, I'll watch em! That jig blends well with the shirt youre wearing...:highfive
Nice vid, keep it up man
Stump great video but I have to point out that what your doing with the hackle is not palmering, it's basically tying a dry fly hackle. Palmering is when you do the whole body as in a Stimulator, Elk Hair caddis or woolly bugger.
Next time I'll call it "hackle wrapped behind a jighead to make a collar -squirrel tail jig" just to make sure everyone is happy.
Thats an awful lengthy title, hows about using the intitials to shorten it up. 'H.W.B.A.J.T.M.A.C - Squirrel tail Jig' has a nice ring to it. Thumbs Up
Neat video. I learned something from watching it. Thanks Stump.
Tim I knew you'd take it the right way!!!!!!! ??? though are you using your digital camera to do the video's you post up to You"Tube??? Sometimes it would be a lot easier to explain stuff people ask about with a video.
Here's my little copy of your tie!!!

That looks good Fatman :):) It's good to see that y'all are enjoying the video.
Nice Video Stump! I do a good bit of collars as well. I like the look of them.
Good job!
Thanks Skip!
Little behind in some of my reading on the boards. Yes Stump good video of a tree rat tail jig. Will have to post up a couple of patterns that I tie with a hackle wrap. One that is starting to produce is one I call the Caddo Lake Cricket. Won't be a video but will post pictures and instructions.
Redman
Thanks Redman. Look forward to seeing your Caddo Lake Cricket, sounds like a good one :).
Thanks for taking the time to post the video. Very informative.
I like it was just hoping to see someone tie in squirrel zonker strips palmered.
Thanks shorebound and fish 4 all. I will make a video on palmering rabbit zonker (cross cut) and you can use squirrel zonkers the same way. Give me a week and I'll get it posted on you-tube and post a link. Hope that will help you.
Great video have had trouble finding good quality squirrel tails.I am not the PRO's you guys are.Talked to a local supplier they said thats all they had looked like the tails had been wet.Found another supplier thats sells his to Mepps good tails good price too. If in need of tails let me know.
Ronnie
As I've already said this is a great video. BUT now I'm really excited reading here that you're gonna do one for rabbit!

I really like your jig, I've been tying sqrl tail jigs for a long time and will definitely try yours.
I have also.tied.smaller.jigs using red squirell.tais...they make nice looking jigs. Also have made chennile bodies on sqjirrel
Rtais. Thanks.again,
icejohn
Man, thats cool right there. I'll have to try one of them. Next squirrel hopping cross my yard is in TROUBLE.
Good job Stump. Enjoyed watching it all, especially the dubbing. Got something new to try now.
Jackie - for Squirrel tails unless you harvest your own try Coffin Creek Furs Fly Tying Furs, Home of Coffins Creek Furs - We Buy, Sell, and Process Fly Tying Furs and Feathers or Moscow Hide and fur hideandfur.com - Moscow Hide and Fur
If any of you are cutting your own zonker strips or cross-cuts make sure to save the fur that comes from the cuts it makes really nice dubbing and later on you can try mixing to get different shades.
Thanks for the comments huls1, icejohn, dblevens and skeetbum (Welcome to Crappie.com icejohn, so glad to have you join us here). So glad to hear that y'all have enjoyed watching the video. I am going to try and add one each month for a jig or fly. This months video is of tying a Foam Caddis Fly on a size 12 hook for bream fishing. Here is the link
