OKAY...two thousand!
Two Thousand?
Coming from you it will be multiple thousands!
I'll bet you left the sons to clean the fish while you took a nap.
Great looking mess, they seem to be all darkened up for the spawn. Were these caught on nest or just staging?
Like the cleaning table ......yours?
Table is mine. A buddy named Jimmy made it for me. A great guy and friend! Thinking the redears are staging but its near. Full moon in 2 weeks or so! Toss it in and hang on baby!
Hey BBD .... what's your best estimate on what the "Crackers" will be doing by next weekend ?? I may be down in that area, and if the Crappie are too hard to find, I wouldn't mind giving the Shellcrackers a go !!

Hey Rich, i'm down here this week. Can i borrow your tracker for Doug's boat? Those redears look delicious.:yikes
If the weather stays warm, next week should be a dandy. Most of the larger bluegill and redear have been staging along points in front of coves. Wednesday and Thursday they seemed to be deeper, but Friday we began catching them in 7-8 feet of water in small cuts along the main shore. I believe they are starting to head that way. My spring break will be over tomorrow so I'm off the lake until next weekend. I hope you guys do well.
I always come down to lake barkley in may we are coming down the 17th this year hope the spawn isnt over by then! This warm spring is killing me lol! Save me a few boys!
We had a tough time with the crappie the last 4 days so we mostly fished for the crackers. We had a blast with the panfish. We caught a few crappie and channel cats and smallmouth bass on ultralights along with a lot of shellcrackers and bluegills. We just got back yesterday.
Hey Tim, how ya doi??
I tried out fishing for redears last year for the first time and had a blast!! I'm gonna try and get down this week for some 2012 action.
This one was lb. 10 oz

Nice one, looks like she's about to pop...
That's a dinner plate shellcracker right there. Where'd you catch him, Barkley? Those two lakes down there are producing some trophy shellcracker. It seems like a ten inch shellcracker is fairly common with the trophies going 12-13 inches. I'll bet there's some shellcracker in those lakes close to 3lbs.
good dennis, can u pm your phone number been trying to call you to see how you have been.
You gotta love it when you get one that big on and have to get the net! I'm betting she fought like a 5 lb. catfish.
I catch one of these around 1 3/4 lb about every year but no numbers. If I catch 4 or 5 redear a day it is a major accomplishment for me. I fish like i'm bluegill fishing and stumble on some rarely. Maybe one day I will find a bed of them.
I'm not coming down till 2nd week of May. Gonna miss the bite arent I?
