Hey AF, have you been having any luck yet? I've caught some decent slabs at the Honey Hole, used to be charlottes cove, haven't had the boat out yet, wind has been rough lately
Nope. not a slab yet. when was the last time you went out to charlottes cove. i drove out there this morning but the weather turned on me. I might try it tomorrow. is it still 5 bucks to fish out there?
Yea, and the new owners are awesome compared to the previous, 3$ for crappie minnows and 5$ to fish, I fish the right front corner straight down and I've seen some monsters pulled out off the front in the center about 6 feet out straight down, I see the most fish pulled out between 7 and 12 am, haven't had any luck at all out there after dark but I've been told it picks up pretty well after/around midnight, and they have the green crappie lights inside too, but still Ive only left with 8-10 crappie each trip, not limiting out...yet
Thats nice. Like I said I might get out there in the morning. I wonder how the bite is in the morning. What time do you usually go out there.
Well, haha, I've been going at 5 am, and after 4 or 5 times of not getting a single hit till 7 I'm going to start sleeping in and showing up at 6 30 or 7, I won't be back out there till wed or thur, I'm in the a/c business for myself and my work starts to pick up about the same time the crappie start biting lol. But from what I'm hearing that's as good a spot or better then anywhere else on the lake right now, just try out the front straight down all the way to the bottom, about 8 - 12 feet deep, and don't let the wind discourage you, I cause 9 the day we had those 40 mph winds
LOL. I figure I will leave the house around 630. What type of setup were you using? Where you using jigs or minnows? I did really good last winter using jigs inside the crappie house. I have 2 10ft poles that I have set up with slip bobbers or should I use my regular size poles with no bobbers. Thanks for all the info man. I cant wait to get out there tomorrow.
I'm using 6 - 8lb line on 6 poles all different sizes from small jigging pole to an 8 footer, I use a 1 hook setup, 3/4 oz weight on the bottom and a size 3 hook about 8 in above the weight, can't stand the tangles I get with two or three hook setups, and crappie minnows, I've caught a few out there with jigs but I've had the best luck with live bait, other ppl down there getting them with jigs, just not me.
Looking at the weather..fishing may not produce much till this weekend, cold weather coming in this week, let me know how you do if you get out there Tuesday morning
I went out this morning and only had 1 keeper outside the crappie house and lost a good one inside. Wind was pretty rough out there today. Might try in the morning for a few hours. Let me know if you are going to go out.
When you say you lost one inside, was it because of those 5 ft high rails they have around the center? I hate those rails with a passion, I've lost many fish in there trying to pull them up high enough to clear the rails. I think I may get out there in the morning, I've cooked crappie three days in a row, need to replenish the stock

these are from my last trip out this last weekend, the largemouth was right at 18 in
thats a nice haul. we need to get together one saturday and go out.
Sounds like a plan, but Saturday is a busy day down there, elbow to elbow, I like mon-fri mornings, hardly anyone else out there during the week, I was out there yesterday and only caught one about 5 in long, but everyone I talked to said it was slow, I'll be out there whenever I can throughout the week
I fished the public boat ramp right there by charlottes and caught 12 one day and 4 yesterday. fishing right by the pier with minnows.
Nice, are you talking about the ramp that's under construction?
Been catching small numbers consistently but from the looks of it you are doing better than I am. First time fishing on the lake was a couple of weeks ago. Trying to find some better spots with bigger numbers. Definitely going to check out the honey hole soon as well.
yea. they are shallow over there. I am going out early in the morning to hit a few spots of ft. phantom with my brother. hopefully we can get into some fish tomorrow.
