Now this is my kind ova snapshot!:Hands Clapping
Kosmo,
You have the update that removes the data from left side, do you think it made a big difference in on the water viewing of SI? I was going to buy a 1198 but the 800.00 price difference between the 1198 and the 998 is a little hard to take.
I put the new update on my 998 and so far like what I've seen just going thru old recordings. Hope to try it on the water this weekend. Definitely like the new real estate in SI.
Nice pics Kosmo
Is that update available for the 997? Im sure this has been asked 101 times.lol. so im gonna make it 102. The white boxes on the side drive me crazy!!
Have you tried to use the zoom box while in SI? The only problem I've seen with mine is that while in a recording, if I try to use the zoom box to get a closer view of a piece of cover the unit shuts down. Not sure if this is just with recordings or also happens in real time.
Greg,
Has anyone else mentioned having the problem I described above with the zoom feature?
Kosmo, can you include what your unit settings are and boat speed are with those pics, im a newbie with side imaging and those pics look awesome
Tom
I dont understand the SI but that DI is something else. I'd love having a splitscreen with DI and 2D running at the same time. I could learn SOooooo much that way. Thanks foir sharing those pictures.:)
How do you get those pics to your computer?
I did not try to see very far a lot, but when I was sitting on ice above known blocks I managed to see the bank that was about 200 feet away. That was just one side, but I think I will get imagies for both sides soon.

i should have said get us that pic in 8 feet of water
The picture below was taken at 7 feet depth, and two depths aside, but I think there is no problem to get pictures 10-13 depths aside:

Even if you are seeing something many feet off to the side, other than knowing which side it is on, how do you know how far out it is and how do you find it again without gps on the unit?
I know for sure which side I am looking to, and depth lines show me what is the distance to the each object: one can see on the picture below, that the tires are about 17feet to the South, the block on the right is about 40 feet to the East, and two blocks to the South are about 55 feet. Those distances should be reduced for 10-20% due to angle of seeing.
Yes, GPS and SD card are exactly what I need for exploring our big lake. This is why I am planning to buy Humminbird 587ci HD DI, but I am afraid I will not be able to do it soon – nobody wants to buy my flasher :dono

I'm still having the issue of shutting down while zooming SI in a recording. Seems to occur after I tweak the sonar settings and then try to zoom.
ok... i tried recording on the water today. while recording i zoomed in to all the zoom settings then scrolled using the view button.the unit didnt shut down. thats the good news the 998 seems ok but when i zoomed with the 597 something not right.ill have to look into that later.
Those are some clear shots! Wish I could get mine that clear banghead
