What kind of wood would you use for replacing your bunks?
Treated for sure, not gonna need that much lumber and will be well worth it.
Some Chemicals used in treated treated wood attack aluminum
Yea G I read about that online, especially in salt water, it said. That's why I was thinking about cypress, but I don't figure home depot carries it...??? If you use plain old pine how long will it last? They also said to use green wood, where can you get that? A saw mill?
Use pine. Should last 10 years if more.

If the treated aint no good then use oak, thats what we use for bridge lumber and it will stay with ya. Dont see the treated as a issue unless your brackets are aluminum.
Your aluminum.boat is sitting on the John.......the carpet on thr bunks soak some of that chemical up in them every time it gets wet. I had untreated pine bunks.....came from the factory that way on my tracker boat for twenty years and they were still solid when I got rid of the boat. I did have to recover them a few times. I keep my boat parked in a shed and I think that makes everything last longer too.

Use pine and paint them with a good wood sealer or primer before you put the carpet back on. Should last as long as you own that boat!!
