For bream and Specks, I was just wondering how many practice C & R, how many practice C & E, and how many do both:) . I do both. Most of the time I C & R to conserve the resource but C & E what I need. I know that some will do differently between bream and Specks. Feel free to post why you do one or the other or both.
I do both for brim and crappie. I dont think it hurts the crappie population to keep what you catch. They grow pretty fast. Call me crazy but it seems like when me and a few of my buddies started fishing a small lake close to home (105 acres), The crappie size has has gotten bigger than when we first started keeping them.
I catch them, Release then into the livewell, then have to catch them again, so i can clean and eat them!!!!
I'll release the real small ones an eat the rest! ;) :D
I do the same as gabowman. But after reading another threat I might be rethinking my ways...

I practice C & E -- I try to make a habit of gearing up so that it is near impossible to hook the smaller fish, if that means I hook two all day, that's fine....but those two will more then likely be bigger then the 20 I released all put together.....mmmmm, good eatin' -- Caleb

We mostly C&R. When we do decide to fish for dinner AND we have several big enough to fillet, they pretty much all land in the "bucket". :rolleyes: As with most predators, useability is our deciding factor. ;) NO trophy taking though....for whatever reason. :)
Catch and keep for both but no more than I catch it isn't a problem.:D
For the most part I catch to eat. But (isn't their always a "but") when it comes to a small body of water, I like to release the largest males for that body of water. On some lakes that is only a 1/2 pound and other places upwards of 3/4 pound. It has been proven many times over that the largest male bluegill control the population size.
A friend timed and filmed me filleting gills. I clean them w/ eletric knife in 24 to 30 seconds each so I don't mind if they are a bit small. :rolleyes: Yum Yum,

I keep only what can be fillet, the rest I leave for D.I. or Carl.
mostly C&R all fish. we need to leave some big fish for our kids to catch. when im hungery for fish i usually keep a few.

I release the small crappie, but the small gills I usually keep in a trough at the house to use as flathead catfish bait. grizzly
I think we should take into consideration the future of fishing and fishermen....I don't think we should "waste" our natural resources...However, we need to survive....Keep only what you can eat and release the others...LC
I usually kept most of the fish I catch but release the small ones and small cats and bass.
I catch and keep some medium sized fish to reduce the possibility of stunting on both groups of fish. Bluegills stunt if not reduced VERY quickly, and specks, well they can not handle being overpopulated for very long. The pond I normally fish for both has a HUGE 4-7" gill population, a small 4-8" green sunfish population and a small 6-10" speck population. I love all three species on a fly rod, and normally keep some gills, but not crappie or greenies. Just my .02
I quit fishing for Largemouth Bass because of the fact that there are few ways to cook it and have it taste good. And whenever I catch a fish of decent size (especially a Yellow Perch), I filet it on spot and drop the remains in my Bullhead fishing holes. So I practice C&E with all the good sized fish I catch :D
A lot of both. When you catch several thousand per season it is easy to do both.

I catch and eat both unless my freezer has more than 5 meals already. Or if I'm fishing to give to others. I have older friends that can't get out and I give them fish often.

Half the time I release all specks, the other half of the time my dad is with me and he wants to keep to eat.
