Really enjoyed the fellowship and jabs on crappie.com. After today, we will eat fish not the bird called "Crow". We had a great time and we realize the wind was rough for lake Monroe.

I guess I'll be eating the crow since I was smacking the loudest, but that's ok! I had a chance to get to know a bunch of new friends and fish with a bunch of old ones. I would like to thank the folks on our end for everything they did. Thanks ms. Trudy and Chunky for cooking, flycaster for manning the weigh station and all the folks that fished in the WIND. On the winning end, thanks to Curtis and Tim for their work in organizing the event at Talquin and a special thanks to Slab for your support with the shirts and the Outback Steakhouse gift certifiicates for all the Monroe folks. The Florida post hit 7,938 hits with 363 replies.....that's got to be some kind of record somewhere. Thanks Slab for crappie.com and making events like these possible!
Mike
The state record & now this, I guess the bar has been set! Congrats team talquin. Also a dat -a-boy to speckanator & lightwirehooker for coming up with this concept to take pride in your local lakes.
Too bad about the wind, but still it sounds like it was a fun event at both lakes.
Anyone notice the order of the Lakes printed on the T-Shirts I sent out?
Had a blast, got beat to death early and found a small corner out the wind and managed some fish. Mostly enjoyed the time with friends on the water. Thanks again Mike and Curtis for puttin it on and Slab for your generous support. And was great seeing everyone again.
a few pics from Monroe
Yeah I had a great time. Me and my buddies finally found a little hole of some pretty decent fish but then time ran out on us:Doh:.
I wonder what the story is with that Coastal Angler feller. Saw him walk up but then he disappeared. Thought for a fishing report writer for Coastal Angler mag he might have made a tad bit of an attempt to talk to us and meet some of us, surely he ain't the shy type.
SYG, ya gotta plan to come next October. Thats when Monroe is in her Glory. Glad ya came down.
Looking at the "weighmasters" tally sheet,
From CrappieGirl1 boat 1Lb 4.1 oz
Speckanators boat 1 Lb 2.6 oz
Southern Young Gun boat 1 Lb 2.3 oz
Speckanators boat 1 Lb 2.15 oz
??????? boat 1 Lb 2.2 oz
Speckanators boat 1 Lb 2.1 oz
??????? boat 1 Lb 0.8 oz
Not a lot of weight, but respectable fish.
I noticed that the printing on the LEFT side of the shirt for each team had their name on TOP.
A BIG THANKS TO SLAB FOR PROVIDING THE PRINTED SHIRTS to some of the participants.
Great day - look forward to the next one! Thanks Mike for the organizing efforts.
Don and Trudy
Had a good time today, just wish I could have found some bigger fish. It was good to see everyone. Felt bad for the ones that had to travel so far and get beat up by the wind, thanks for coming out. Caught a 1lb 6oz in the pm fished until 5pm wound up with around 90 stopped counting they kept biting just not the quality fish. It was fun anyway. Going to give em heck tomorrow too.
Wow, Andy you went back out huh? Thanks again to everyone who pumped this event up. Somehow got my father to come out and catch some fish. We did bring in around 35 or so, but nothing over 13". Still had a blast, and sorry we couldn't help our team cross the finish line.
I had a blast fishing with CG1 and Jack , Appreaciate the Guide trip LOL , My secret baits were NG , Didn't catch a fish until I took em off and put on minners LOL, a special thanks to all who helped with this event, Linda sorry I forgot to pick up the special hooks I hate it when I forget something Free ! RR
I didn't participate but by the look of things all of you had a great time. After reading the "book" of post here on the Florida board it seems to me that all of you Florida people are a great bunch of people. It looked like both the Georgia and Florida people had a great time. Way to go to everyone!
We had a great time fishing lake Taqluin. Caught a lot of fish. Only Big fish! We caught a lot of fish, my first time crappie fishing it was a blast. And I want to say thanks to all the guys at lake taqluin that helped get my motor running. Had a carb. With issues. I am now hooked on crappie fishing!
Looking EAST across Lake Monroe, FL Saturday March 10, 2012 8:00 AM.
Very threatening weather.
Speckanator, sorry your group didn't put a hurting on them boys from Talquin but from what I am reading you all had a good time. The wind can really put a damper on things at Monroe, wish I could have been there to help.
Agreat competition yall had, sure it was fun.
Wish I had seen more PFD's.
A big congats. go out to the Talquin guys. Going to miss the smack talk til the next Throw Down. Sorry for not sticking around for the weigh-in and lunch. My better half had birthday plans for me so thought I better get home knowing the traffic was going to be heavy because of bike week. Got home with just enough time to clean myself up and off to party. And yes I am feeling it this morning. Caught some nice fish but obviously not nice enough. Hopeing someone comes up with plans for a Slabfest next month.
Sorry I missed you Taylor007..I probably saw you and didn't know who you were. This is my first time back on line since last Thursday, so I didn't read where you was going to be there...Glad you had a good time catching some quality fish. I had some boat issues Saturday morning also and that wind blowing at 15-20 didn't help any!!!...Just got home and I'll post some pics shortly...This was a Great event for all those involved...Congrats and a big Thank You goes out to everyone on both lakes!!!
Well on my way home tonight my transmission in my truck decided to go out on me. Got towed with the boat to chief land wal-mart now waiting for my buddy Chris to come with his gooseneck trailer to get me. What a way to end a great weekend. Lol can't get mad it wouldn't help anything just glad I bought a new truck on Friday. I should have drove it instead of the one.

speckanator and all the rest of the lake monroe crew enjoyed the smack talking with all of you guys maybe the weather will hold up better for yall next time once again enjoyed every minute talking with you guys
I stopped by the weigh in to see who caught big ones...alas didn't see any, nor did my limit of 12 inchers help. Sorry, was late to pick up the kids and couldn't stay. told BLSD to pass on my thanks...saw Jacob early starting that 20 hp at the ramp, then fished a secret hole, and no big ones saturday for us...
Well, now there's the report. We had a very similar experience CoastalAngler. I wonder where all the 15-16" fish were on Saturday?
