Were these on calm waters? against the wind/current?
thanks for the numbers :)
You are probably getting inaccurate readings because your meter can't respond fast enough to the pulses from the speed control. The closer you get to max speed, the more accurate your reading will be.
Question: With the 24 volt terrova, does the draw come equally from the 2 batteries, or from one until drained then the other??????????????
I have the 55LB riptide with i-Pilot and there is no way it draws the advertised amps or my battery would not last as long as it does. I think the #'s posted above are about right and may be a little high even.
Theoretically you'd really see about
3.6
7.2
10.8
14.4
18
21.6
25.2
28.8
32.4
36.4
Assuming everything is at similar conditions.
Did you ever retest the numbers Barnacle Bill? Thanks for this post. I have also been wondering what kind of run time I would see out of the 55# iPilot.
I know it's hard to find answers in this subject. I appreciate the time you put in to come up with a rough estimate.
Depends on what you are using it for. Mine on 17.9 WarEagle just spider rigging for 8 hrs won't even touch the battery's. ( 2 group 27 hooked together ) when pulling cranks about 4-5 hrs if no wind. I seldom pull cranks with it because I have 4stroke main I use. Set it and use terrova to steer with. Boat size, wind, current and type of fishing are all going to effect run time up or down.
16' 1988 bass tracker guide v shallow. Very lightweight v. Trolling cranks is what I would use it for here in East TN. I don't encounter wind problems too much here in the summer.

I think Ree's will agree with me on this one. If i were to be using the 55 for pulling cranks I would go to the Golf cart battery. Like i said before 2 Group 27's will only realistily get me 4 hr's run time pulling at 1.5 to 1.8. i could go to two group 31's and probably pull all day. But for the cost of those 2 and the difference in weight the golf cart is the only way to go. Just my 2 cents from my experiance.
Dead on Cray, believe in cart batts if you are pulling all electric. I here folks say this and that but if they compare apples to apples the cart batts hold up the best. Only time I have run mine down in 2 cranking seasons we pulled for 9 hours in HI winds. I run a 19.5 basscat with a 200 on it and a lot of added weight, close to 400 pounds in batts cause I have a 101, you'll be tired of fishing before a cart batt is tired of pulling in that rig. Will say it again, sure like that layout, wish my glass boat was laid out like that.
What cart batteries are you using ?
