Shane.
What have you heard about the new LSS2? I heard it will be available sometime this summer. I want to add SS to my HDS and want to know if I should wait for the new one?

They should be out next month and you really won't be able to tell the difference as they are mainly for deeper waters. Shallow waters, none to little difference.
So we might as well get it now while they have the good rebates! I think I'm going to pull the trigger on and HDS5 with SS tomorrow at the new Cabelas in Wichita. Gonna have to cook the wife a nice dinner tonight to butter her up for this purchase!
Now Chatt be good.RoflRoflRoflRofl
Whatever it takes, I guess!
tdinges,
There are having a super sweet deal on the HDS 5 bundle with structure scan this weekend. Might want to save some money.... Can't remember the cost but I know it was a very good price. C-ya on Saturday!
Haha, I should have checked back this morning before I went to Cabelas. I went over there at lunch and got the HDS5 and SS not bundled. It comes out to be the same with the rebate. I'll go over there Saturday and check the deal to see if it's worth taking mine back and re-buying the bundle. I tried to get the bundle, but they were having trouble finding it, I didn't have time to wait. Thanks for the heads up...I wish I would have checked back.

I've been watching all the deals / rebates / bundles..Just hard to pull trigger. Heck the down scan unit I bought last year is $100 to $150 less this year. I Think I'll just wait and see -- no rush --

Shane,
I just read a post on Walleye Central that they are claiming 35% better clarity and scan speeds up to 35mph with the new unit. Any truth to this? My buddy is thinking about holding off on buying one for the LSS-2 because of this.
Thanks, Tyson
I'm getting GREAT pictures at above 40mph.Attachment 85747Attachment 85748<*)}}}><
Chatt,
Are these pictures from an LSS1 unit. Look very good to me.
I am trying to figure out where to mount the transducer.
Have been thinking about mounting on the jack plate.
But I am not sure it would be in good water at much above fast idle.
Yours must be mounted level with bottom of hull to get these pictures at 40 mph.
Is that correct?
Attachment 85752Made with LSS-1 & HDS-8 Gen 1. As you can see, I reversed the LSS-1 ducer, lowered to 'skimmer' depth. & zipped tied ducer cable. You MUST then go into structure options and switch right to left. Gota 'new' rooster tailRoflRofl Would show faster speeds ifinbangheadbanghead my tub wood go dat fast. The new LSS-2 ducer is even bigger :yikes <*)}}}><
Thanks for taking the time to post the picture. Just what I needed.
Chatt,
Do you have to turn the ducer around to get that kind of pictures at those speeds? Mine is already at skimmer depth. I just put the LSS-1 on and haven't had a chance to play with it yet.
I didn't likenonono the cable up front being a 'bumper' & I think it would cause:dono turbulance. <*)}}}><
Hey fishers,,, I know Ima takin a lot of credit:biggrin for these installation moves but,,,, A "SPECIAL THANKS" :Hands Clapping:Hands Clappingto Ozawkie Marine. Deric & Dennis have put up with me:bash & MANY changes:dono to get it right!!! GREAT :highfiveJOB!!!! <*)}}}><
Heres a pic (lss1 and lss2 side by side) and this guys initial writeup:
For some reason when I look at the new transducer I get visions of viagra...steroids...:yikes

you think you have a roster tail now...put that thing on and try it...lol
Great photos and post Chatt. I'm looking forward to putting mine on here in the next couple weeks. I'm assuming you tried everything until you finally ended here? I'm sticking mine on a 99 Nitro F&S. I think it's going to be transom mounted just about like yours. Where is your regular ducer? Does it have to be a certain distance from this to work properly?
I have drove the guys at Ozawkie nuts,,, changingbanghead &:dono testing. But,,, we really hit a 'home run' :Hands ClappingJumping Jacks IconThumbs Up with this ducer placement. The 'sonar' ducer is just to the right. Having it close is for the structure 'overlay' feature. <*)}}}><
Chatt You are good at that.Great job.
Well I DID IT.:yikes..Ordered the HDS-7 gen2 / LSS-1 bundle with insite maps..Got a good deal from one of our CDC sponsors..Plus can send in for that $100 rebate.
Ron said he would help with the install / training ..But we maybe calling you Chatt for some tech support..
I'm getting excited:fish

I'll be out dis weekend learnin the overlaybangheadbanghead features!! <*)}}}><
