Looks good.
One thing I would do that I've found out is get a cover over it. It'll keep the water cooler and won;t stress them out. They'll live longer
LOL, purdy near much. Them Red ones are purdy in the pond
i am going to build me one and have it all planed out but what do ya'll feed them?
I feed em goldfish food that floats
I got the same trough with a paddle aerator, and a recuiqulating pump running to a filter system (a hose going to a battery box with 1" holes drilled in the bottom, and filled with holofil, setting on a bench at one end) that werks great in my garage!!! Till it gets hot outside!!!!

I use the same plastic Rubbermaid stock tank that you have with two older aquarium filter hanging on them. I used 2 cans of spray foam all around my last one and it helped with stabilizing the water temperature in the warmer months, I might do it again to my new one when it starts to get hot again.
DD what do you cover yours with? last summer i put a canopy tent over mine but the water still turned green. minners don't seam to mind but it makes it hard to catch them....lol...I think it was still getting to much light in the mornings and evenings...???
I just have a little pool layout floatie on top. It's one that is with a mesh bottom and the inflatable tube on the side. Nessa uses it when we go to the pool and I use it for a minner cover LOL
I got a 100 aquarium and a 50 gal plastic tote with aquarium pumps and filters with a air pump on them. Got them in my shop and didn't have much trouble in keeping them a week or 2 in last years heat. Feed them Gold fish food. Want to get one of those big troughs and fix it up.
DD mines too big fer that to work. Might try cutting legs off on canopy so its closer to pond.... less morning and evening light...:dono
go to Home depot or Lowes and get one of those Lattice fence panels. Bet they don;t cost for 10-15 bucks
that wont keep light out.... and lights what causes the pea soup
Itll keep half out lol. Ma?e a frame out of 1x2s n tack some plastic to it
that's a good idea....tks DD:cheers2
I got a Yankee ? Where do you get the minnows, You have a truck deliver? How do you save money by doing this. I know Stupid Question. So give me a stupid answer.
Mine are left overs.... Hate to throw them away.... I started puting my left overs in last summer and never diped any out... Now I have some really large minners and they seam to multiply....
Good answer Gator. Mine are dead by the time i get back to the ramp, let alone home.
THANKS DUCK for showing me how to make it. I took a 22 quart coleman cooler that I using a big flat screwdriver and punched a hole in the top of the side for the aerator to hang. Then I took a phillips screwdriver and punched a hole near the top of the side for the air hose to fit through. It stays cool in the summer and also with it being wider, I don't have to worry about it turning over in rough water or in transport to the lake.I thought I had a pic of it but I guess it was on my puter that died.
