Should be showing up soon. Just have to keep checking.... I got a message that a person caught some the other night...
Thinking about trying HD tonight, not sure if I want to deal with the wind. Post a report if I go.
went out on the deck to smoke one last night heard spring frogs chirping bout gaurantee if ya want to fight the wind or the rip-rap on the face of the dam the eyes are layin there waitin and eatin 3-7-12
I'm gonna try to get out next week a time or 2. This wind has been crazy. Sounds like it's going from wind to rain tomorrow, pretty much for the rest of the week. Hopefully the traffic isn't too bad at El Dorado, went out to Cheney 1 time last year, and that was enough for me. There had to be 200 people on that dam.
I made it out to El Dorado last night on a spur of moment trip and fished from 9-11:15 and didn't have any luck. Heard a few splashing out deeper, but never did hear or see anything close to the bank. Only saw one other guy out there last night. Should've stayed longer, but the full moon was so bright and having to work today put a stop to that. Now with the weather moving in the rest of the week, going to mess things up.
Talked to 1 guy at HD last night who caught one short. My buddies and I didn't get any, but we did see one MONSTER swimming around in the shallow water so at least it's starting. The wind was awful!!!!!
Cheney is pretty crazy to fishing along the dam, you have to get there early to get a spot, or go late after people are leaving. I don't care to deal with the crowd but my wife likes going there because it's easy to fish at night from the dam. El Dorado seems to have a fraction of the people fishing for walleye along the dam but the spawn is not necessarly going on the same time Cheney is going strong.
Fished HD along tne dam Friday night from dust to 9:30. Not a bite and didn't see any one catch anything. Very few fishermen out and only one other boat than mine. Marked alot of fish out in 30 ft. of water. Worked on them for a while also and they didn't like my presentation either.
Fished El Dorado Friday night with little luck. Had one hooked on a 3 way rig for a very short time and then another hit later on. Had fish in the rocks after dark. Spawn in on fur we have a long way to go. Water temp 48-49 with no winds.
they are putting the nets out at Hillsdale tomorrow or at lest thats what I heard
Temps in 70s and 80s this week with lows in the 50s should get that temp warmed up.
Fished off the face of the dam at Kanopolis lake last night. Not much going on there yet.
Went out to Clinton for a while last night from 7:00 to 8:30 on the dam. Around 8 bank fisherman and one boat on dam. Caught one short crappie and had one other bite. Didn't see anyone catching anything. Think it may still be a bit early.
Headed out to El Dorado last night and I didn't have any luck, but my buddy that went with me tail snagged a male that was around 17-18 inches long. Saw a few other guys on the bank, but didn't see or hear anyone catch any. A lot of splashing going on so they are definitely there now.
Drove by there around 9ish and there way only one truck out there. Hope you guys get on them soon.
TJ is running nets on Perry states his numbers are good
I was out at cheney yesterday also. I was in the white boat by myself. No luck on catching anything. Saw a lot of shad on the sonar on the west end of the dam.
..per USGS website, Cheney's waters are at 53degrees now. It was 50degrees yesterday.

went across hd dam this morn 2 guys leavin 1 guy stayin 1 boat on dam fishin kdw checkin nets watched em work 2 nets saw no fishes in bout 1/2 hour
Well, I'm going to try to get after them tonight finally. Heard they're catching them up north already, Webster and Wilson. I guess they pulled the nets at Cedar Bluff already. I'll let you all know what happens tomorrow.
I must have been mis-informed, sorry about that.
Craig, how do you guys determine what lakes get nets? From the sampling that you take each fall and winter? Or do you always net the same lakes? Or a little bit of both.
Thanks, Tyson
No problem Tyson! The nets are pulled each morning and re-set in the evening. If someone was there mid-day they may think the nets have been pulled if they are used to seeing the nets at Hillsdale which stay in all day. The lakes use different types of nets so they are operated differently.
We try to use the lakes where we can most efficiently collect the eggs. This will usually equate to a lake with a good walleye population and capture of broodfish is easily accomplished. The three current walleye lakes Hillsdale, Cedar Bluff, and Milford have been the 'go to' lakes for several years and they continue to be good producers.
I got ran off by the storm that came through last week. Did hear some good reports back west. Pretty much all the lakes west of Salina were going pretty strong last week anyhow. Any reports around Wichita?
