They beat gander hands-down, & on the way back from tampa last weekend stopped at the Dick's Rt.4/Rt.27 & to my surprise found some jimmy houston blakemore series gold blade road-runners 1/8" size for $2.27 ea. That's compared to the $7.00 a pair I paid for a generic brand at K-mart a couple months ago. Another store to carry any different speck equipment can't hurt.
Those "gold series" road runners really work down here in stained water................
best one found to date is "blue cheese" 16th once, also come in 1/8 th.
16th works best on long -line with trailer of 48th oz wooley bee 1" slider.
They are completely sold out here in Bandon-Bradenton- Wesley Chapel-and
Philips Tackle Center- Lakeland.
Most Dick's are not as high as Gander Mountain (who is proud of their material
think they are still selling to public in Wisconsin - Minnesota) but they are high
unless you can locate a special or two.
Would love to see a Cabnela's come to Florida - give bass pro a run for their money
I am actually shocked that Cabelas has not opened a store down here yet. And Dick's is a welcome addition. Not great like a Grizzly jig or moderate like Bass Pro but leaps and bounds ahead of Gander, Just hope the same merchandiser that set up Daytona does Sanford. The Daytona store has a more Crappie stuff than Orlando and Haines City.
One thing I found at Gander that I cant seem to find anywhere else is that new "Big Mouth Baits" line of grubs. I still like dropping into a DSG whenever I drive by one, as well as dropping by BPS, just most trips I leave with little that I dont already have.
Still having one close by would be a good thing :)
Mosquito Creek has big bite baits as well.
Sandy's bait & Tackle in Tavares, Fl has probably best devoted Crappie set up
around......will make most Dick's look small..........he has almost all the new stuff
commin out, plus a lot that he is having made under his store's name at more reasonable
pricing, plus - he has several people testing baits before he puts them out...........
Darryl & Terri Cole - Geo Parker & Tim Eberly - Windel Connor -etc.............
352 742 - 0036...............being so far away, i usually load up about 4 -5 times
year when in that area. Sure hit the Master Charge hard, wife usually in shock
for 2 weeks.
If Bill doesn't have it, he will get it for you............also has good deals on
Deep-South rods...........buy 4 get 5th one free.....................
Best price around, other than TA Mahoney's in Tampa - get 10% off everythng in
store with mention of FCC.
If you ever get a chance to go into an Acadamy Sports do it! They have some awesome deals on lots of stuff, Great clearance prices on clothes too!!
Been to Sandy's after hearing about them several times this year. Was not impressed, overpriced. And not much more than Bitters except for a few more poles and rod holders. What it cost me in gas would easily pay for shipping from Grizzly or the Crappieshop or Monks. I like stopping in the different places for small items and misc. Items, but most of my tackle I get now is from Grizzly or Monks and will be looking into the Crapieshop.
Have to agree regarding Grizzley & Monks.......do have good prices on items.....
however, sometimes, got to have items before they can mail to you...
Something of interest - got an Amazon cedit set up and have found some good
prices on products that include free shipping, etc................
Hummingbird products - Pfleuger reels - some jigs & grubs products..........
Doesn't hurt to look into it.........they have in a lot of cases have products at
better price than on e-bay................
Sure hope they're better than the one here in Orange Park! If you shop in the summer for crappie baits you're O.K. but don't go in looking in November cause all they got is hunting gear and the bait rack is empty! I asked once who decides what they stock and the guy said somebody up north?!? Once the good stuff is gone they don't restock and the color and size selection is slim. They do have Road Runners though if you get them in July when they put them out. I order on line and get my jigs from lightwirehooker. Can't beat those anywhere!
The Orange Park store is the one I go to!! I is closest to my home!! Havent bought a lot of baits from them yet, I have spent the last 6.5 years fishing saltwater and the last 4 yrs fishing out of Steinhatchee every chance that I had to get there. I went to the Orange Park store this past Sat. and bought me the Pelican 2 man pond boat and trolling motor and have been working on rigging it this week, when finished I will post pics on here. I have access to several small lakes and ponds I haven't fished in years and can't wait to get back at it!
Post up the pics when done. Sounds cool
Sandys bait shop is my home baitshop. I feel they have a weath of crappie equipment for a small town and better than most in bigger towns. They also were a top sponsor for our Dec slabfest donating 2 top rods and many packages of jigs. They also read our forum regularly but have not joined yet
Sandy's bait shop Rocks, there never out of anything.
Acadamy Sports #1
was in the area today and stopped by :) Nice folks and super crappie specific inventory.Quote:
