i had my hot maps card in a 798 that i sold. i just pulled card out. then i bought 898 and it dont change the map, did i loose data on my card? i also tried it in my 597 still nothing both units are new. any advise thanks:popcorn

You need to check which map your 898 is reading.....i think it is in the set up menu
i tried left card, right card and auto dont know if that is what your talking or not. i couldnt find a place that tells what map.:dono im new at this 898
I think if you have that on auto it should give you the hot maps....maybe rickie can help here

At the bottom right of the "Status" page.. It should say what is in "Card slot 1" and "Card slot 2"...
If it is not recognizing the card....make sure the card is all the way in... It will slide in easily until it gets to the "spring loaded catch" in the slot.. Then it has to be pushed in against the "spring loaded catch" a little more to "catch"...

You could also try testing your map card in a unit that has a working map card in it. Maybe swap map cards with a fishing buddy just to test. It could be that something is now wrong with the map card…
card slot sayes nga-10 ,when i move to the other slot it switches like its suposed to. on the chart selectoin i have it on auto, ive tried right and left still nothing. dont know what contourxd is. it sayes 5.70 software too. thanksQuote:

Mine neither. Not the happiest with Navionics but it serves its purpose.
I'm not really sure how a map card goes bad...
You said the card slot on the Status screen says nga-10... And the nga-10 switches to card slot 2 when you changed slots....so the unit is recognizing the card...
Try this...
Take the card out of the unit...
Turn unit off...
Repower unit on into "Normal" mode...
Open any "Chart View"...
Insert card..
There should be a small white window "popup" at the top of the screen that says "Loading Charts"...
If you get no "popup"... Sounds like the card went bad..
How old is the card..??
You might contact Navionics and see if they have any suggestions..
