a few quality fish
Caught these yesterday in Monroe-same depth as last week, trolling jigs and minnow tipped jiggs. The biggest fish (specks) seemed to hit a plane jig. The hybrids seemed to hit both the same and were caught in the river north of monroe and they reeked havoc on our crappie gear. We ended up with 6 but broke off close to twice that many more.
Special thanks to all of you who have posted up reports the last week or so as I've never really fished monroe. Hunted it plenty and have fished the river south but never really fished it seriously as I have great speck fishing closer to my house. My friend lives on the coast though so we met in the middle last saturday to give it a shot and had a pretty good day.
Here are some of yesterday's best

Total bag for the day...if we'd had heavier tackle we would have hurt the hybrids but they were big fish and we were way undergunned. I don't know if they always act like they were yesterday as I've caught very few but they reminded me of tuna fishing. We'd see fish busting bait and troll over to them and 3 or 4 would hit like a freight train all at once.

Sweet. Also nice camo job on the boat. Got any more pics of that?

Great job! A lot of fishermen really dislike the hybrids but I think they are a blast! Glad you had fun!
Oh! And they taste good too!

Great size stripies. Even the little ones will make a mess of your speck poles. I can't imagine what those did! We would get in to them a different areas of the lake and have to pull up and head somewhere else. Not uncommon for all the poles to go down at once.

Awesome work and awesome fish. I need to get out that way soon.

I'd say ya had a good day! Nice work

Nice mess of fish! Thanks for the report.

I can't believe folks would want to get away from them...I can't get my mind off them! We tripled on the last pass of the day and it took 15 minutes to boat the fish-I was trying to handle two and my partner broke off one pretty quick but boated the other. I can't wait to go back with a little bit heavier gear and have some real fun. I want to get some in the boat then mess around and see what all they'll eat. On light tackle just casting artificials would be a blast. It's been a long time since I've bass fished but I don't remember the same size largemouth being anywhere near as strong a fish. On the paint job-I don't have any better pics of the boat but it's a natural gear camo job.

A few specks, then the rush of a reel zinging-off drag in anticipation of what's on the other end, that there's a good time!
