You are lookin at the right spot just need about 5ft of water.
Barbie is that Cane?
That just breaks my heart.
Major,it may be a good thing they drain the lakes. It keeps fish from over populating, especially as small as Butla is.Trying to be optimistic.
I am camping at Hernando Point Friday night and Saturday. Have a funeral to attend. I hate to see it that low.
Thats hurricane on the far side is pleasant hill.
I thought I knew that point. Should have had some stakes and tree limb with you.
Good time to pick up a GPS and take a stroll around the lake
Saw two boats out Sunday straight out from Hernando point trolling.
looks like a good place to go mud ridin'. By the way Barbie, how was that 'mater gravy?
I didn't get to make it yet, went to the grocery n got everything for it, but the kiddo wanted Egyptian eggs, and ATM wants to try it as well, so I have to wait for a morning he will be over. Gonna attempt tomorrow morning, but no promises. N I will post pics, I wanna make sure I do it right :)
Heck if that water gets any lower you can just wade fish it all over and drag a net behind ya to scoop them up with.
I rode down there last yr on habitat day.. U could almost cross Cane just shy of the mouth and cut behind the island into Massacuna... Neither creek had much water at all in them
I was at the Butla yesterday fishing Hurricane creek! On foot. Since I don't have a 4-wheeler, I humped a cooler, 3 rods, a minnow bucket, my rain gear, which I had on most of the day on a two-wheeler. I walked from Oak Grove Rd.which is on the northeast side of the Butla almost all the way to the Emergency spillway! At least 2 miles. The small bass were loaded up in there. I caught 6 off of 1 stump. Put all of them back except for the 2 largest ones. Ran into 2 other fellas that were as crazy as I was< they had 2 keeper size crappie and we were there most of the day. I walked the creek back to the old road crossing and didn't catch a single crappie. I headed back to my truck and over to Hwy. 51@ Coldwater River. Fished a slough till dark but did no good. The mosquitos were huge though. Got to break in my new BnM jiggin pole. It was better than being at work. I got today off too. I'm gonna fish somewhere even if it's wrong.
OLD FISHERMEN NEVER DIE, THEY JUST SMELL THAT WAY!!
If there was water on those stakebeds there would be fish on them. The 2 crappie I seen caught were way up Hurricane Creek which tells me that there are more of them there somewhere. I would have tried to fish from my boat but the wind was too high!Even trying to fish from the bank was hell! The wind was gusting across that dry lake bed and made feeling your jig almost impossible.
