How many get 400 ft side to side out of the shallow water setting?
The beam will hit bottom long before it gets 400ft in shallow water.
what i am asking is how many have the settings on their unit set on "shallow water" that enables them to go 400 ft if they want to. those that fish water 40 ft and less lets say for example. mine gives me 400 ft set on shallow water as an option, but lowrance says anything under 100ft keep on shallow water settings.
I keep mine set on shallow water but I rarely try look much past 80'
what i am asking "IS DO YOU HAVE 400 FT ON YOUR SETTINGS" as an option? NOT WHETHER YOU USE IT OR NOT!
:crazy:i use my unit out to 360ft. i do this fairly often .i see alot with that one pass set that far out.i no this is not what you want to here but i couldnt resist.......
Am runnin hds 10 and hds 8-e net up here in Mo. Set for shallow water, I can shoot 200' left and 200' right. I don't like the loss of detail, even on a 10. Usually prefer around 80' like others. Does this answer your question.
There was a change in that option in at least a couple of updates at 4.0 or later.
the reason i am bringing this up is my hds7 will only allow me to go out further than 60 ft on side image on shallow water settings. i have to go to fresh water settings to get past that and up, which they say use shallow for shallow water , but you do not have the side scan long range settings in shallow water settings, at least on mine.
i think so, what i am trying to find out is why my unit will not go past 60 on si on shallow water settings and i have to go to fresh water settings to get the long range up to 400 which is available in that setting
I never thought of it, I will try to remember to check next trip out
I'll have to look around, but I now this was addressed for another user many months ago, don't recall the specifics though.
I normally set mine to 60-80 and then eat a donut while scanning.
Some might claim to run at max, but the truth is, when it's maxed and you are watching it on your screen, it's so compacted that you'll often miss smaller objects that may be holding fish.

The answer you are looking for is NO. I DO NOT have the OPTION to go past 60' set in shallow water.
Yes I have the option to go to 400' on the freshwater option.
My HDS 8 is the same
About like talking to customer service crappie girl????..way to go.stand your ground:Hands Clapping
Stick a donut in him, he's done.
Yep. It's all in fun Cmax. I actually do try to provide factual information though.
Your info is usually very good. It just seem that HB vs Low overtakes these threads and then its not fun.
