Please let me know also. You can PM me if want. I am thinking of going tomorrow and fishing Richland creek. I haven't been yet this year, which is a bummer. So I am hoping to make it tomorrow later in the day. I am not fishing any tournaments so any info is safe. I will share what I find tomorrow if I get to go. Thanks, Wes

me too. I just want to have some fun out there with the wife and put some food on the table.
What's the difference whether or not your fishing a tourney?? Just asking.
I can tell y'all this ...if your waiting on someone to tell you when its on,your most likely gone be to late! I try my best to be the first one to catch them. That's why I keep records every trip,I know give or take a few days when they ought to be somewhere.
JIGSLINGER, when I first joined the crappie.com website there was a lot of great post on here. As time has gone by so have most of the great post. You are correct about just going when you can and catching the fish the old fashion way of finding them on your on. It is much more rewarding and gratifying. I do tournament fish and it is very hard for anyone to get information on any lake that has an upcoming tournament. Not saying whether it is good bad it is just what it is. I received my two new units today. I will call you tomorrow.
Earl, you are right about the posts of the past. What folks need to get a grip on is that a person can post about a trip with out giving out "ALL" the details. Reports about water depth, water temp, depth fish caught at, and a color mean more than any pin point information ever will. Crappie move around too much to really be able to say that spot "X" is the place to fish. North end, South end, East side, West side, is enough of a direction for anyone to figure out what they need to try the next trip out. Tournament anglers are not worried about how many fish were caught as much as how. Weekend warriors are in need of the same information as any tournament angler. By not posting reports of how crappie were caught is just hurting all the new comers to this forum.
The past 12 months have seen more new posters to this forum than the past 3 years (I think). :welcome We will never get to be better anglers unless information is shared among us. Yes, there are those that lurk in the shadows just to read up on "where" to fish. That will not change. So, post your reports, post your pics, brag on yourself or your fishing partner, and just leave out the "EXACT" details.
Those that fear tournament anglers have yet to really know any real tournament anglers. :dono As you well know, come visit a tournament weigh-in. I look forward to seeing more informative posts in the future, but I do expect to see some that take offense at what I have said. Kinda like the ski boats that ride by half throttle and waive the whole way. Some get it, and some don't. :deadhorse
Oh, and by the way, I hope to have a good informative post after my trip to Blackshear on Sunday. Rain, shine, sleet, snow, or high fast moving water, if I get a kitchen pass. I ain't scared of anyone knowing what I did to catch a few fish. :bash
Good job Shine Runner I'm on your side :fish I like to post when I go and caught a mass but if I only caught a:crazy: couple that is not a report. and I love to fish.
All lakes arent created equal. On some lakes I could name a creek and you could search out a creek for a week locating fish. On other lakes (like I fish) if I name a creek then the next time I go fishing there isnt room for me to get in there. Now, that being said, I do share information like alot of others that helps another angler get on the fish. To me some of the best info a person can get is knowing water temps, clarity of the water, amount of bait present, depths of water fished along with depths the fish are suspended at, methods used to catch 'em, type of structure fished, baits used and best colors for that day. The only reason I'd think a person would hold back that kind of info is if they've already publicized themselves too much with pictures of their rigs or themselves (avatar) and have people waiting on them at ramps or following them on the lake (been there and done that...different avatar nowadays:rolleyes:). CDC has been and IMO still is a very educational site which helps me to continue learning about crappie fishing. And that is from all the great folks on this website that makes that possible.Thumbs Up
I agree with gabowman. i had to change my old avatar as ever time i went fishing someone noticed me from CDC.Attachment 82465..............Now i can fish in peace.
Dang!! You trying to scare 'em into the boat?!?BAWHAHAHAHAARoflRoflRofl
I can remember when I 1st started trolling for crappie it was in the March few years ago. There would be 3 or 4 boats making circles and we would be talking to each other giving what info we could to help each other out.You know whats here today my be gone tommorrow. Those were some enjoyable trips.Lets not become the fram of mine of a bass fisherman lets enjoy this as a fellowship.I have met some good people fishing.
These are all good and true coments but what I meant in my earlier post isn't necessarily about withholding Info as much as getting the info a little late to act on. A good example is last week I was getting tons of info from guys catching anywhere from 80 to 100+ a day shooting docks at lanier,it was saturday before me and my partner could get there and we where to late! We did manage a few but everyone we talked to up there said the same thing the bite had shut down Wednesday. But its wrote in my log to watch for 50+ water temp around first or second week of february to go tear them up shooting docks on lanier!
Next year I will get them before alot of people ever hear about it.
Well put Dan. I think people could learn alot from tourney anglers, not saying that tourney anlgers are better fisherman, i know alot of people who don't fish tournaments that are excellent fisherman and would do well in tournaments if they chose to fish em. I'm saying most tourney anglers willingly tell how they caught their fish afterwards because the liklyhood of them fishing there that much is over anyway. They are going to the next lake where the next tourney is to try and figure those fish out. If we do well in a tournament and someone asks us where and how, we always try and help. We don't tell every detail, but we tell enough that others should be able to go and catch fish.
I agree with shine runner and gabowman,it help's everybody out just to know the detail's.I would like to see the post of the past come back to the GA Forum.I think this site is about fellowship and fisherman and I think it would help everybody out and we all could learn and benefit from each other's post.I fish several different lake's and I have not had anything great or even decent to post this year. When I do I will share.
What I have noticed sometimes if you ask how the fishing is at a certain lake and don't get much of a response then usually its time to go. Haha! Either the people are out there fishing and catching them while we are home dreaming of catching them or some people just don't want to share the info. I am like most of the guys on here. I don't want to know where someones honeyhole is as I have a few myself but I do like to know things like how deep to fish and what depth water to fish in.
wow.ive been gone for a bit, these forums Sure seems secretive.I have found that lakes go through cycles it seems.Bad spawns/good spawns, etc. As the cycles go, the angler usually follow the lakes that are doing well.
One fisherman just left the house at 9:00 tonight....buying more heads and going back to Oconee Thursday Morning. Said they did good this afternoon (Wed).
I hope they save a few for me for this weekend. I don't know if I should go saturday or sunday. Both days show sunny and high 50s and sat shows 11mph wind and sun shows 5mph winds. Just got back from wally world. Bought me 4 more BnM 12ft trolling rods so now I can spider rig with 8 rods instead of just 4. Going to try fishing the backs of coves that are off the main creek channels in 8ft or less water and work my way close to the banks. Start out with my minners at 2-3ft deep on half my rods and set the other 4 about 4-6ft and see what works best. Got some BnM Capps/Coleman rigs from wally world that I am going to try on a few rods as well as some black/blue/black jiffy jigs and white/chartruse/rainbow jiffy jigs I am going to throw in there too. Give them a big variety and see what they like. I am new to this spider rigging and only caught like one fish doing it so I am determined to figure it out. :fish
Mntman. U should do well with that setup. Just keep moving slowly & you will find them.

I didn't get to go last Friday which is a bummer. It was a nice day Friday and I should have been fishing, but sometimes it just doesn't work out. I will be glad to give a report when I get to go. I don't mind sharing information. It doesn't look like I will get to go this weekend but there is a slight chance I might make it Saturday. I don't know what the rain and then the front coming in will do to them. Good luck everybody that gets to go. Like everybody said in this post all you can do is go when you are able and try to find them. But the most important thing is to have fun with family and friends and enjoy the time on God's beautiful lakes.
Hey shinerunner. Did you happen to get the PM I sent back to you a few days ago?
PM returned.
