PP, Your Walmart is good. Mine sucks.CF
Really like the looks of those nibbles. Haven't seen any at my local wally world either.
I need to ride by Wally World in Williamsburg and check it out.
Thanks for posting this.
Dan
CF, I went to the wallyworld in Raleigh near crabtree mall last week when I was there for my wife's Grandfather's funeral. Found some of those arkie cranks and bought me a few. they have a good selection of crappie stuff in there. i was quite suprised the first time I went in. Try to go in about every time I go to raleigh. I'll let you know how the cranks work. Tootsie Roll
Thanks TR. Yeah once You go in land it seems the wally worlds carry a better selection of fishing stuff for fresh water. The EC WM is just a hybrid of salt and fresh with nothing that really stands out for either. I thought the old Walmart in EC had a better selection.CF
I was told one time y the guy that ran the sporting goods section at one of the Wally worlds that they stock their stuff according to the area they are in. Of couse I don't know if that is true or not.
Yeah, I think that is how they do it Bill. I know if you go the Wally world in Kitty Hawk, It only has salt bait. Maybe a handful of fresh. EC has an isle mostly fresh but some salt baits mixed in and then an isle dedicated to mostly salt water rods and reels. The other 2 isles are fishing line, terminal tackle, marine products. The one isle with baits is 50% bass, 25% salt and the last 25% is pan fish baits but mostly brim. Not much in the way of crappie.CF
Thanks for the tip. Found the shad in 2 colors at the Stephen City Walmart.
Welcome to the board Wiggler! We've had very few members up in your part of the state & look forward to some reports.
Thank you for the warm welcome corker! I'll tell you the fishing up here is a lot slower than down on the tidewater, so that probably has something to do with it. I'm pretty new so I look forward to picking up more tips from you grey beards.
Welcome aboard WiggleRoom.
Nope. Done with minnows. Tired of My sources running out before I get a chance to get any. Tired of the guy at the baitshop counting every stinking one out. Tired of trying to keep them alive. Tired of losing up to a quarter of them some days fishing. Tired of the price going up on them to have someone count out each and every one. They even had reservations on minnows a couple years ago. No Thank You.
That crap forced me to get serious with jig fishing and I never looked back. No special trip or time wasted getting minnows. All I need to catch crappie is in my bag to carry with me at a moments notice. I will not run out of bait. I make my own so My baits are different than anything else on the market. My baits are cheaper than any I buy from the store. I can customize my colors in any shade I want. My Bag takes up less room than a minnow tank. All I fish from is two or three 3500 plano tackle boxes. I don't need a tackle bag really. I can take what I have in a small brown paper bag. These are my confidence baits. I don't need no stinking Minnows!:cheers2CF
I was at Beverdam the other day, and had forgotten that some handle minnows. ( this takes slime away and kills them!) I felt angered and allmost told hm to forget the minnows!!
Most places I go do a "guesstament" count.. And one place I fish gives me 4-5 times the amount of minnows I pay for (I never run out)-- In turn, if I have alot when I get back to ramp I return them to the store.
Thanks Barnacle Bill
crappiefarmer, I am with you .My jigs do well for me, I know some just love minnows better and if I did I would fish them. Yet to be honest if not spider rigging ,it looks like minnows catch less but I realize others see it different and thats why it is so many ways to fish for them
For so many yrs, I thought the only way to catch flounder was to use minnows or cut bait or both.. I recently started using plastic jigs and have done VERY well!
( large croaker like jigs also)
Papermouth which wally world did you find them at? I am in Luray, VA on vacation and just found a WM with a good stock of these baits including the bgbs style jig in kalins' "money" color. Picked up some jigs and cranks but would like to find them closer to VB.
The arkie sexy shad was tested & proven last Sunday buy more while they last
