In that range a Danvise is hard to beat.Look on Ebay, might even find one on the lower end of what you want to spend.
Thanks radtexan i will look into those.
Yes He is right, the best rotary under $100 is a Danvise!
+ 1 for the Danvise. I tie on one. Works great for crappie jigs. Just be very careful with the jaw tension adjustment. It comes with a video showing you how to set it up correctly. If you don't follow instructions, you will damage the jaws.
I like my Terra vise. Rock solid construction and not a loose connection on it. I don't do much turning of chenille on it but it turns freely and smoothly.
I also like the Terra vise. It does all I want to do. I use the action spring at Barlows, under Forty.
Before paying big bucks - check out the fly tying sites for sale sections - Sometimes you can pick up a really nice vise for alot less money.
Thanks for the info. I forgot to mention I prefer it to be on a base or have a 3/8 stem so i could use my old base. I looked at the danvise on ebay but they had a clamp and doesn't look like it would fit on a base.
The Danvise fits in a base, but the stem is metric. It fits perfectly in the base I got with my Cabela's deluxe kit, but if you have a 3/8th base, you'll need an adapter. You can also enlarge the hole if you have access to the right tools.
Soo its a toss up now. Its either the danvise or a peak non rotary vise. Not sure if ill even use the rotary on the vise soo im not worried about that I just want to get the best quality vise i can with what i have to spend.
Don't forget about the griffin Odyssey spyder vice. I own one and love it. They cost around 100 give or take a few bucks. But really any rotary vice is an improvement over a fixed vice.
I don't stock them, but Peak make a fine non rotary that is built like a tank. Great machine work and all. Look at their web site and it will last a life time!

I got the rotary vise because I tied a lot of streamers and hate taking the hook out and flipping it all the time. I think the fixed Terra would work great for most tying. The rotary really does work well though and allows you to tie fixed while still having the option to rotate the jig/fly to different aspects for tying different patterns.
Thanks for the replies! I just put my order in for the peak non rotary. I really like that it has a lifetime warranty.
Anvil makes two named the apex and atlas. One of those is in your price range and I liked the way they handled and thought they were well built. The peak would be a good one, but I really like the rotary feature. Well worth the few extra bucks.
Agree Skeet, I would be lost if I could turn that thing around now after 6 years of always a rotary and now the Nor has me totally spoiled.
