Anybody fished either one here lately? Any luck? With Duck season over, I'm ready to get after them.

I think the river has been in Midway. 3-4 weeks ago I got some good reports. I tried to go and the wind blew me off. I would try Horseshoe
Ain't been on horseshoe in years.
Where are yall talking about
East Arkansas close to Hughes.
Been keepin an eye on the Shoe the last week or so, but nobody I've talked to has caught many. I've been at the ramps 3-4 times and haven't seen a good mess yet. Midway should be great cause the river is on the fall. They usually take off on a slow fall, and the river should be outta there by Friday.

Hey Shane - What BRM said. They are 2 oxbows off the MS river. Old Town is cut off of the river and has some of the biggest bald cypress you have ever seen. A lot of people yoyo there but I like to single pole. Horseshoe has 100 docks and pads to fish.
In the heat of the summer you can get under the docks with a black and chartruce jig and wear them out.It is also a great trolling lake.I have even caught them pulling crankbaits. For us in NE ark and those in Memphis they are used a lot. One thing about Horseshoe in the summer, the ticks and fleas will run you off
Yuck
If I remember correctly ol muddy gets in Midway at 23' on the Memphis gauge. Is this correct? It's been about 10 years since I"ve been. Grandad took me all the time back in the day though...even got me out of school to spend days at a time down there. Ol man Fowler and him were good buddies.
Trying Midway in the morning keep you posted.
Thanks Jaco - that could save me a trip
For some reason I had 22 or 22.5 ft. in mind as the level the river starts getting in Midway.
Don't matter now anyway, it's.fallin. Time to catch em!!!

Gonna be COLD this weekend....dang the luck....where was all these temps the last month of duck season?
Hey, HC my best friend is one of Mr. Fowlers sons. Mr Fowler just pasted away about 5 months ago. Store ain't open any more got messed up during the flood and his other son that lives over there didn't want to fool with it. Mr Fowler had been in a home for Alsheimers patients last few years.
Sorry to hear about him.
I have a place at horseshoe. Had it for 20 years. What's this about ticks and fleas? I always thought it was cooties!! :yikesLOL. Seriousley, never had that problem.
That's a bummer about Mr. Fowler. Did he even know the shop was lost? I remember when I was bout 12 or 13years old and staying the summer down there with granddad. I was out fishing on one of the piers and a little black bear ran me into a boat that was tied up. Scared the crap out of me and here comes Ol man Fowler and his clan with guns blaring......scared the bejesus out of that bear. Never seen that bear again.
Sorry to say he really didn't know any one or anything the last 8or 9 years. Really sad. Him and his wife both always treated me just like one of their kids. Was really rough on my buddy last few years because they were pretty close. I can just see him gittin after that bear. Big and strong as he was he didn't need a gun.
Sorry to hear about Mr Fowler. Always enjoyed visiting with him when he had the store open. He seemed to really go downhill after his wife died.
You forgot "water lice"!
true that!!
