Just started trying to use some vinyl paint and was trying to figure out how to put glitter on my jig heads. I just sprinkled it on the jig after I applied the clear. Is this correct? Any tips or advice would be appreciated.

I use it with powder paint so can't help really with Vinyl, Sorry. I use some vinyl paint, but never have used glitter in it. I actually use what they call metal flake glitter that is supposed to take heat of curing better, but some use other kinds of glitter and seem to be okay too. I just decided to buy my glitter from the same people that make the powder paint.
I haven't started using glitter in the powder yet too, many project in the fire. But know most of the people that use it use powder. Rad texan is a master of the glitter powder paint and know he gets his from Hobby Lobby. They mix it with clear coat. Have to read more on it before I do it. You can get some really neat custom colors.Do some searches on Glitter powder paint on this board and am sure that you will find out the answer to you question.I
I don't think that you are going to do it with vinyl paint. The only one that I thought that was good is a Red paint head dipped that was rolled in silver glitter while still wet. And that was really old school.

Why can't I take "hard as nails" mix glitter in it and then apply it as my topcoat. I think I can use it as a topcoat over vinyl or powder paint. What do you guys think about that idea? Also will "hard as nails" change the color of my jig or effect plastics used on the jig? Any input would be appreciated.

glitter can be added to powder paint we have used glitter with vinyl paint quite a few times the way that I do it is take the jig head and dip it in clear vinyl and then into glitter and then re-dip it back into clear vinyl to put a overcoat on the glitter.
Yes, you should be able to mix the glitter right in with the Hard as Nails. I have also heard of people mixing the glitter with the epoxy topcoat. Not sure why you would want to put Hard as Nails over powder painted jigs. To put glitter on a jig, simply powder paint the jig in the colors you would like and when you are done, dip the heated jig into the Pro-flake, which is a clear powder paint with glitter mixed into it. Then cure the jig. You do not need to put a clear coat on a powder painted jig, unless you want glitter on it. When the powder painted jig is cured, the powder paint bonds with the jig and becomes virtually chip proof. Powder paint also has a nice shiny cured finish.
You can mix the glitter with Hard as Nails, but it would be a pain. You may want to experiment with the nail polish that has glitter in it, since you're using vinyl instead of powder paint.
Once you go powder you'll never go back...Much eaiser to work with,no drying time, more color possibilities and more durable IMO.
You can glitter them either way you want, on the wet paint or the gloss coat. Try them both see which does the best for you. As for mixing in your clear coat, that's a big maybe. Some glitters will bleed, others like those used in plastics won't. I do glitter with liquids quite a bit anymore, I don't use vinyl though but something similar. Play around a bit, those fish don't really give a hoot if it's ugly. But finding something that catches both fish and fisherman will have you chuckling all the way to the bank.
Personally, I dip plenty of powder and use more and more liquid. In my experiences there's nothing tougher or more brilliant than vinyl/clear coat. I use a lot of Poly-Sil also. They all have good and bad. I've combined 2 of them and I'll give you a paint job that you could drag behind your truck and the jig will look brand new except for the hook. Now thats TOUGH.
Glitter size on jigheads is just as critical. Try the fine stuff.
the same people that make the liquid vinyl paint also make gold and silver glitter for use with their clear vinyl. It is hard to find though, but it comes in the same little jars as the paint does. I just mixed it in with the clear till I got the right concentration. You have to stir it up before using each time as the glitter will settle to the bottom.
i use nothing but vynil, as redear said, mix in with the clear coat and dip. you will have to keep it stired as the glitter does settle.
