Looking to see if someone can find my sunken boat. Last seen out from the swim beach at Bucksaw. Maybe someone with the high tech. down scan or side imaging could help. Im willing to kick in some money for finding it, but after loosing two boats last week im not rich. I am looking for gps cord. and depth of water it is in. I can meet you to help, what ever you can do to help would be appreciated.

I was in it when it went down last wednesday. swimming in the dark glad I had my life jacket or this would be an even worse report. I would also like to thank clinton ems, missouri water patrol and tightwad fireand rescue.

Heard the story today. You all are very lucky. Glad you had on life jackets as 40 degree water in the dark is not a good combo and only takes minutes for hypothermia to set in when its that cold. Let us know when you locate it. I will make a pass or two next time I am down there.
Yes two one was recovered. first time out with my boat i just bought and punched a hole in it. the second was the tow boat. I feel so embarresed that i hit a stump and nocked a hole in my boat, i have been up an.d down that lake many times and now iknow it has a personnality and changes from time to time. Just glaed to be alive, when the toe boat sank on the way back in( I think the transom split) we got on my boatand it was so cold out there was ice on it. Then it started to role over. And we had to swim to shore. Never experienced hyperthermia but wasn't any fun.
Wow1 Even though you lost a boat (or 2?!? Huh!) sounds like youre a very lucky man being here talking about it. Hope things work out for ya.

What kind of boat was it?, fiberglass or aluminum? Glad your still alive!!!!!

It was a 14 ft jon boat. the boat was not that much. but it has a newer 4 stroke motor on it. 15hp.
What happen to ads that show a boat full of holes and you can not sink it.
Makes me wonder about the foam in small or older boats.

Glad you're OK! I read on here a couple of years ago, here in Arkansas I believe, Where a CDC member was coming down the Saline River and hit a stump and got thrown out in chilly water. The bad part was The boat was circling around him and he had to catch it to get back in! He was very lucky.
OK busy at work, Saturday too. Off Sunday. Will help locate boat unless somebody can help out sooner. Does anybody got any ideas how to go bout this after boat is located. Think maybe try to snag the thing with somethin and drag it to shallow water? Or is this a crazy idea and the guy needs a barge. Never drug a submerged boat. This might need a work party. Not as much fun as buildin piles for crappie or bunnies!
Good question, maybe just hire a diver to get the motor back and leave the boat for the crappie or like you said to snag it and drag it to the beach and hook a truck up to the rope/cable. If the boat landed upside down it will be about impossible to snag it. I'm willing to help out if you do it on a weekend but I don't have a side scan fish finder.
Thanks for input Bigby. Am runnin HDS 10 with structure scan, can sweep 400'. Should be able to tell direction of boat. Might be able to see upside down or not. Haven't put HDS to task yet. Don't think locating the rig is problem, what then? Truck with winch on bank, tractor, quad on bank with winch??? Can COE help? Lookin like Sunday unless he gets it before then?
Not sure of the water color down there but it would be nice to have one of those under water cameras that are used to find fish after we find it to see where to hook it, never used one so I'm not sure if it would work. The boat and motor should not weigh that much, I think if we hook it by the motor and get it off the bottom it should be easy to drag, but still thinking about where to hook it to a boat without tearing stuff up or capsizing. Not sure how big of a boat the water patrol or COE has got or if they would help.
I know some divers with recovery skills....not sure how long it would take to get them all together, but I can sure try to contact them when exact coords are in hand.
Everybody be careful. Would love to see this operation. Keep us informed and take pictures.

so does the first owner still have rights to a boat that they did not salvage??????
Well, just got home from Bucksaw. Boat in garage and a cold one in my hand. Spent 4 hours with Scott (x2c) at Bucksaw looking for his boat. Beautiful day (32) great company but no boat. We covered every inch of water from Bucksaw point to Cedar Creek-no boat. Am confident that boat is not there. Hopefully it's not neutral bouyancy and a floater headed for the dam? There is a huge school of shad between the swim beach and the bluff. Seen balls of shad but never a layer. Down image on left side. As we entered the school I froze screen for this shot. We went right through the middle of them. Yeah, I know-it's shad not a boat. But interesting. The way I understand it-this is the first boat that was disabled by a stump. It was the aluminum tow boat that went down and he can't find. After hearing the horrible story, the man is lucky to be alive. It was dark when all this took place in frigid water.
Glad I got to talk to you two at the ramp after your futile search. Sure hate it that the young man lost his boat. Just very thankful he didn't lose anything much more precious. The boat still may turn up sometime. It could be stuck in tree limbs anywhere along the channel. High water in the Spring may loosen it. Some fisherman may very well stumble across it someday soon. It was very kind of you to help the young man look for his boat today, CE. Well done in my book.

Just wanted to say thank to Mark from Tightwad Bait and Tackle and Richard aka Crappie_Express (and everone else that offered) for helping look for the boat that sunk. Both gentlemen refused to take any money for time gas and effort and I will be in debted to them for life. It just goes to show what a great bunch of guys there are here on the Missouri .com site and I will be honored to put the .com sticker on my truck and boat. I hope to be able to pay you gentlemen back someday or pass it on to the next person that needs help.
Mark and CE are both first class guys for sure. Next time I run into you hit me up for a sticker or two. Glad everything worked out and everyone ended up safe and alive.
