I use baitcasters, 10# Hi-vis Vicious mono for main line and 8# clear for double minner rig.
Oh yea, I ain't no pro and Sat's a gewber.
bait casters, 10lb suffix hi-vis braid w/8lb florucarbon dbl minnow rig or w/6lb florucarbon single jig rig.
Thanks and didn't mean to offend by callin yall pros. I'll use gewbers next time! :fish
Imma pro and I use Baitcasters (anybody that uses anything else is ignernt and certainly not a pro...even the pros that use spinning ain't really pros) and Viscious Hi-Vis 10# mainline with 10# Pline superline for the pre-tied rigs.
On the line...I prefer a hi-vis just for....well...visibility, but don't care to use it on the rigs...not because the visibility, but hte Viscious is not superb for abrasion resistance....therefore, the Pline get's that job. Don't care for rigs tied with braid, but braid mainline would be fine with a mono or equivelent rig.
That's just my opinion of course. And it's only a coincidence that it just happens to be the right answer.
Wannabe...
Bait casters for better drag and basically all I have used for over 50 years for evey kind of fishin. Have gone to all braid even on jig poles. Like WB I use Trilene extra tough 10lb on all the rigs I tie for abrasion. Way more Gewber not close to pro.
Baitcasters, fleaBay specials ABU Garcia 4600's with 10# Hi-Vis Mr. Crappie or Berkley Big Game.
What do ya think about the micro reels like the BPS or older Wally Marshall?
I like the way Yikes leaves out Barnett or maybe he is leaving out Enid dink Reservoir.
I use baitcasters with 15lb. HI-Vis yellow with 8 or 10 lb. Vicious florocarbon on the bottom. Just ordered some "new" Pro line Florocarbon.
How come nobody ever posts pictures of thes Barnett fish ?
Cause they are afraid someone will confuse them with the Minners they use to catchem
I'm using cheap spincats on my spider poles. Granted, they wont haul in large stripers or catfish but do alright with crappie.;)
oh yea! the question at hand
a small baitcaster, sam heatons, 20lb hi vis yellow spiderwire, and a 10 lb floro leader
the rez has a few of them in there
Good Spinners,(I like playin my fish with my right hand, plus I've used em for 30 yrs) cheap hi viz 12-15 for my main line, and Silver Thread AN-40 Silver 10 & 12# for my rigs cause the diameter is smaller, and it isn't as brittle as floro.
BRM
Baitcasters and 10# Mr. Crappie hi vis.
Either one baitcasters or small spinning reels with a good drag i use 10# mr crappie or vicous hi vis. panfish.
It ain't that spinning reels won't handle large fish, it's that you have to pay off line with two hands and they stick way out from the rod making your stack of rods more prone to tangle in transport.
It aint that minis won't handle big fish, again, you have to pay off line with two hands.
But the real reason to use bait casters is that you can more easily use longer rods and short lines are no problem and micro depth adjustments can all be done with one hand with the thumb bar line release.
When you catch a good fish, you can set the hook, fight him to the top with one hand and have your other hand free for your net. Plus, with the fish on the line and a net in one hand you can release the line and pay it out with tension from your thumb, raise the rod and bring the fish in to be netted. This also helps if someone else is running the net.
Now...go get bait casters before I whip ya.

I use the older Johnson Century spin cast with 30# power pro. My hook rig is on smaller mono line.

does this theory werk even ifn ur planin on katchen more than one feshy??? just askin.......
When you let line out with the thumb release dont you still have to turn the handle to lock it? How can you do that with 1 hand? By the time you got your hand from the release to the handle your line is still going out right. Could someone explain this please.
WB does present many good points. I just need to be able to find a deal on 6 reels for my new PST 143's!
Don't post pictures of fish. Don't want nobody coming down here. Y'all keep believing ain't no fish in Barnett.
Thank you G But it still will take 2 hands to change depth while fishing right? push bar turn handle to stop, am I missing somtin
Yes.....but thats not a big deal
