I work for a small Insurance Company so mine is with them - Pekin Insurance.
I have everything with Alfa.
The guys at Performance Outboards told me that Progressive is who they have the most trouble with. And that's what I've got. I think I'm gonna change mine to Farm Bureau, where I have my house insured.
If anyone wants to contact a Farm Bureau guy, call Sheldon Culpepper. He's a MCC member and Sponsor and a great guy. PM me for his number.
State Farm for this old redneck! They cover my lower unit with just a normal boat policy! And if you drive like me you need all the help you can get.
A key to keepin it cheaper is carrying everything with one company. They almost all give very good discounts if you also have your Home and auto insurance with them.
Never paid for any boat insurance.
Farm Bureau $110 yr.

ok i am going to go a little OT here but not far. I dont have my boat insured and never have had one but is there a way to get the motor covered also?
Mine with Farm Bureau covers everything.....Full replacement value...boat, motor, and trailer.
Usually when you insure a boat, everything is covered, boat, motor and trailer.
so if i am going across the lake and the motor blows its covered?
if thats the case my agent is about to get a call.
I hit a rock, bent the prop shaft. Ins. covered it.
ok sold!!!! calling my State Farm agent now shouldnt be that much got house and 4 trucks with them.
Insurance covered my motor last year when it went KABOOM
Glad I was able to help you out with that thought Maj
Looking back its kind of comical but then I needed new drawers
Progressive sucks. I speak from experience.
Progressive on all my past rigs and my current rig but shopping now
all insurance with state farm
State Farm for my boats Allstate for the rest of her stuff
Just switched all my stuff to Nationwide. Couldn't believe they could beat USAA on the same coverage. USAA is not the same company I started with in 1971.
I was reading a couple of previous posts on here and I am amazed that insurance would cover a blown engine. If you hit a rock or stump and it broke the crankshaft or took out the lower unit I could understand since that was an accident, but an engine failure I would never have expected.
I switched from Progressive to Nationwide last year. Got cars, house and boat with them, mainly because my agent is a friend of mine and I trust him.
Farm Bureau.
