Well with some of my tax free momma don't know money I'm thinking of getting the silver minnow 2 1/4 mold from Jacob's. My question is, is it thick enough for a 1/8 ounce jig head with a decent barb not to split out the sides?

Maybe someone will chime in that has it Mo but I like that series of molds too. Good looking bait and I know it would work good on Stripers in my neck of the woods.CF
I just received one of them also, going to make some but the body is about a 1/4" wide, a 1/8th oz head looks like it will be a little big for the body. will find out. will make some and put a 1/8th oz jig on it and post later. Just rolled out of bed and getting around.
Just got out of bed! It's 915 pm.... Afganistain time lol good morning America And a pic would be awesome
Here ya go Mo! This is 1/8 with a #2 sickle. I will say that it is a tight fit width-wise with a barbed head. Its going to tear pretty quick.. So best bet with this bait is to go with just a ballhead (barbless) and some super glue.

2 1/4" Silver Fish - 10 cavity mold
Wow I've missed you guys lol awesome pics I love Ricks stuff but his thin bodies limited me with an 1/8 ounce head. I think this bait will be a killer. I used the "fin s " style baits in alot the summer. Ron Don it's about time the Bone Poverty point heats up. I love my North Louisiana White Perch!'Snake hows the married life?
I like that mold. Hope to get one soon.
Glad i could help! Yes its about time it turned on at the "Bone"!
Hey Mo Quack,
I have been making this type heads with a modified mold and they are the ticket. No splitting. Pain in the rear end to make . Them little wires are hard to get in the mold. Gave some to my Bobby Garland fanatic buddies and thats all they want.

Snake ,hope she don't look on post,LOL
I have had this mold for a while now and I love it. It is a thin minnow, but it is a great bait. I bought it because it was the closest resemblence of the fin s bait style. I wont even dare using a 1/8 with it. I use a 1/24 to a 1/16 and it works ok with that. When I saw this mold come out I knew it was a must have and I jumped on it.
crappieseeker, is the 1/24 alittle bigger than a 1/16?
between a 1/32 and a 1/16, those wire keeper jigs are the ticket... Thats whats great about this forum! Ask and you shall recieve.... amazing
Here are some wire keeper jig heads for sale. Might try them out before you buy the mold!
Super Keeper Jig Heads
I've been looking for a head mold like that forever! I need to decide between the tear drop head or a round head. I'm leaning toward the round. Dang it I come on here looking for advice on ONE mold now I've buying two thanks guys jeez lol your right this is a great forum with wonderful people.
The 1/24 is a little smaller than the 1/16th. It is half way between the 16 and 32, so that makes it a little lighter than the 16th. It works really well for a slower fall and it is killr when you double rig with it. I have had several double catches this year running two of those jigs at a time.
Mo Quack,
Looks like the teardrop will put the bait back on the hook farther than the round head. I make the round head out of a mold I modified last spring. Real easy to modify a no collar round head mold. Dremel out the wire slot or file and widen the hook shank part in the mold. I did 4 cavity mold in 30 mins. Bent all my own wires out of .025 soft stainless safety wire. The wires sell for $65.00 per 1000. WB400 Keeper Wire Form Twice what I pay for the hook. Crazy!!!
Yeah they definitely rip you on the wires! I can get the wires half that but the quantity is way up there!
Hey RonDon,
Your ultra Minnow would work great with the wires. Probably be an easy mold modification!
ship I wish you lived closer I would let you borrow my molds for a few days. However it costs a fortune to ship them.
