If you have a gps I will send you the gps coordinates of my crappie condos if you are interested. I have a boat in a slip up there and have fished it regularly for 10+ years.
How long are you going to stay up there and are you going to be fishing for anything other than crappie?
Also a FYI of sorts. The name of the new marina is North Shores. It used to be Navy landing and before that Lena landing.
How could a guy go about getting some of those coordinates? I have always put out at Crystal but wouldn't mind traveling.
yes have a gps
staying at North shores
So how'd y'all do?
Well...
we didn't find the Crappie! But we found the Bream! Huge Bream..which is great we haven't done that in a while. We really don't keep little fish...and you can catch little bream just about anywhere. it's nice to add some slabo bream to the fish fry.
Supposed to go back the next weekend or so. I think fishing up there is a bit different than fishing the smaller waters. We know of some good Crappie spots by Mtn. Habor, but it's so far to travel.
Yeah, big bream are fun to catch. Heck, the little ones are, too. I just don't like to mess with the bait-sized ones.Quote:

Any of you guys still active members here and fish Lake Ouchita?
I do. Mainly bream fishing. Got my new Lowrance HDS7 Gen 2 and we found several areas with big bream in the Tompkins Bend area. Need to go soon.
I fished out by Denby last Sunday caught 3 one good one water temp was 59 by sundown should be getting better every day
I fish out of the Tompkins bend area as well but never for Crappie. I'm starting to get into crappie this year. You guys got any pointers for crappie fishing in deep and clear water? You mainly using minnows or jigs?
I guess this is my 2nd year for the Crappie. I have mainly been a Bream guy. The crappie that I have been catching are mainly in some of the coves between Joplin and Tompkins Bend on the Marina side. I have found several brush piles and " Game and Fish Commission Fish Attractants" in this area ( thanks to the new fish finder). Using minnows and fishing 6 pound clear line on an ultra lite rig with a clear bobber or no bobber at all. The bobber is because I have found that my boat tends to reflect in the clear water and kinda spooks the fish. Normally in 15 to 20 feet of water fishing 10 to 12 feet. Hope this helps.
I fish the big Q and launch out of the state park, sure could use some coordinates for crappie and bream.
