For those of you who have external GPS pucks, can you let me know how you mounted it (on pvc pole to elevate it) and if possible post a pick ?

Don G just a little off the subject. That phone you have hanging on the wall, I just hung the exact one in my pole barn a few weeks ago. My wife bought it back in about 1980 and we stopped using it about 10 years ago. Had a young girl come to the door and wanted to use the phone, her car broke down my wife pointed to the phone in the kitchen the girl looked at her with a puzzled look on her face, she had never seen a dial phone before. Kind of scary getting old.....
DonG, you need to move closer to town and git off rotary dial.

Wilbur or Don- is that a specific piece of pipe you have screwed into base of puck or just ordinary stuff. I like the neat tidy look!

It looks like PVC screwed into puck base? Is that right?
Thanks don, that's what I was looking for
Just remember that some units don't work when they are that close to the head unit, so check first before you mount.
The easiest way is to mount it under the top cap on a glass boat. Works fine, is out of the way and no holes needed.
I am gonna mount it on back of boat with it raised. I am planning on documenting the install with a new thread with pics. This was last few pieces to have all ready to go. Thanks for all input, I do appreciate it. With this much of investment I want to do it right.

What about the internal Gps units? You cant get any closer than that.
Mine is mounted about 18" ABOVE my 2d transducer. Sometime this winter I plan to move the SI/DI transducer to within a foot of the 2d. I did not want my external antenna mounted on a pole so I couldn't bump anything into it. It sits on top of my back deck close to the corner of the boat. By having the antenna sitting right above the transducer, I have a little more accuracy when sitting over a saved waypoint.
