When the water is muddy this time of year will the crappie still be 15 to 20 ft deep??
I have NEVER had much luck on crappie in cold AND Muddy water,,thats if the water uis normally clear...I'll read along to learn..
It still amazes me how shallow crappie can be caught in 45 degree water. We've been fishing an average of 18 inches to 2 feet below the dam on Nimrod and over at Lake Atkins.
Normally when water muddies up it tends to warm quicker. As long as you have a foot or so of visibility I'd rather fish the muddy water...anytime.Thumbs Up The answer is yes...the fish will be in that muddy water.;)
no!! if the water is muddy enough to track a coon they are usually pretty shallow even in cold weather. muddy water is warmer than clear water!!!!!!!
Thread two glass beads in the line before you tie your jig to the line...click
click click dinner is served.
Good idea Turtlebait! I'll have to try it. I've had good results putting glass rattles inside of my Beavertails. I've always read years ago that If you lower a white coffee cup down into the water and whatever depth it disappears at that is the depth that you need to start fishing. Don't know how true that is. Seems to be accurate right now in dingy to muddy water.
How large glass beads do u use and do they need to be real glass or just the plastic kind?
i use 6mm real glass beads to make a clicking sound, plastic dont make know sound!!!!!!!!
I usually recommend a bait with a larger profile in muddy water. Since Nimrod is usually not clear , closer to muddy most of the year .I perfer big baits cause I feel the fish can see bigger baits easier.
Hey Meatgetter,
Are you talking about using those 6mm glass beads in just muddy water? Or real dingy water? Where do you get those?
They are not just for muddy, they also come in many colors, helps locate the blind and hard hearing fish.
two sometimes three beads of differents colors, orange, red, orange.somestimes you need a loud click and sometimes a soft click.the click click sound of tbe beads makes them think a crawdad is moving around.
OK, I had my wife get out all her beads and she had glass. Now the question is what color. She had clear, white, black, pink, red and brown so I got some of all. Do ya'll use different colors? Also do you use them just when it's muddy or maybe when you just can't get a bite? This sounds like a great idea.
my first choice is pink,2nd chart.3rd orange 4th red 5th purple. about all tackle dealers has them, like bass pro, cabelas, barlows, jans net craft.
Thanks Meatgetter and Turtlebait. I've just never tried that, and didn't know anyone else had. I know the green carp fishermen use rattles and stuff in their tube baits and beads on Carolina rigs! Just never heard of anyone doing it crappie fishing! I learn something every day on here! Thumbs Up
i use them on all my spidder riggin poles and some on my reg. jig pole!!!!!!!!!!! i have see when i think its made a difference.
To get them to click you will need slack in the line as to jig or jert,...
I don't hardly ever use them anymore and they are not for everyday use
B/c somedays crappie will hit the beads and not the lure.they are just another trick that does not work altime
just like some of the plastic that doesn't work altime.the bottom bead can be a tab heigher then
the top bead....humm get a short line a glass of water and jig, jert the beads to see what it takes to make
them click.the click is more important then color choose ,you do not want the fish hitting at the beads as they
do.
Thanks again, guys! Next time I'm in BPS I'm gonna check into that. Thumbs Up
never heard of anyone usin them crappie fishin.. That makes sense though!!! Thanks for the tips, learn somethin new everyday!!!
