Same things I tie for crappie, only smaller: chenille body, marabou or rabbit tail. IMO, there's no need to get more complicated than that.
OTOH, I've been using trout magnets a lot in the last year. The gills have been pounding them.
Just a few of my gill baits.

Tank, they are tied using 1/80 with a #10 hook. I have some 1/80 with a #10 sickle now but have not tied any with them yet. Sickles are the best thing since butter!! LOL just my .02

Great looking work everyone. I'm on the road and will take a few pics when I get home. I have a couple of simple ones that work real good.
some awesome stuff being posted. Prowler i would like to tie some like yours where do i get the beads that will slide up on the hook i tried some i got but they wont make the turn on the hook.
I got the beads as a gift in one of the jig swaps.

Lot of fly tying shops have beads that you can get over a hook, especially a small hook like these. I am sure Bob Marriott's has them if you look in the stick on materials. I am not sure if Crazy Angler has them or not. I also can't say about some others but feel pretty sure about Bob Marriott's. Also if you just search for fly tying shops I bet a ton of them show up and lots of them will have beads. I have a lot of them and some from walmart, but most of them I bought for flies using a bead hook.
How do you guys get the skirt material on the jig body? The plastic spinner bait material to make the legs.
Just tie it in before you tie in the chenille.

As far as getting the leg type material on the body I would put it in when wrapping the chenille and just stop where I want it. Tie one piece on each side and that makes 4 legs and then continue wrapping the chenille over it and after your done it's there. Like below.

You can put them in any place you want. I just wanted them near the head.
