Winter arrived at Diascund 12/24 (late report)

Too much chestnut-roasting yesterday to do a Diascund Reservoir report for Christmas Eve.

The day started calm, cool, and lonely (I was the only boat on the lake) with a slow bite, but a dark wintery cloud moved in at about 10:00

and soon the lake was whipped up almost to the point of whitecaps. The temp didn't drop much, but suddenly 4 layers of clothing weren't enough.

If the bite hadn't improved with the wind, I would have been on the way home when Jim.B showed up. He started the day at Chick River & relocated to Diascund when the wind picked up and the bite dropped off. For an hour or so, we enjoyed catching a few and wondering why we were the only boats on the lake. When he had to leave to deal with a sick trailer, I continued the lonely freckle-fest.

Like the past few Diascund trips, WT was in the low 50's and the fish were deep. As he always does, Jim used jigs effectively. I caught a couple on jigs, but did much better on minnows. My two sisters-in-law asked Santa for crappie fillets, so 18 keepers found their way to the hot grease to go along with the chestnuts and fruitcake!!

I like those days when you have the whole lake practically to yourself. I guess that's why I like fishing so much during the colder months. Sounds like you did good enough to feed a few folks too. Nothing worng with bringing home 18 keepers!Thumbs Up Congrats. Good report and some nice pics.:)

good report corker, jimb make out alright with his trailer?

We found him a safe place to leave his rig until he can get the replacement bearing and get back up there to put it on. If he didn't get it yesterday, it will probably be next weekend. This is a good reminder about the value of carrying replacement trailer parts in your truck. Tires and bearings don't always choose the handiest times to die.

Sounds like a decent day to me! Hmmm, I just got my 24V TM connected, but need to deside location of base for my hytec's.

Try to put them where the rods will rest at elbow height. It's a back-breaker to bend over and reach down every time a cork goes under.

( after another day of boat outboard not running at Anna- screwed up wired somewhere:mad:) Hi- tec's are mounted. Right at elbow height! And side finder is mounted tempory. ( till I can figure how to run transducer wire to front)-- I am ready to get out on tm lake and find so crappie!

Keeping extra gear is a great thing,plugs,pull cord,some tools. I keep a few of them in truck and in the boat. As you can't get out and walk to the truck. Its that boy scout thing in me and Uncle Sam beating it in me. As I get older more finds it way on the boat. Glad everything worked out for you jimb.

charlie there should be a pipe that runs from the front to the back. in all my bass go fast boats there was a pipe on both bass boats i owned. hope this helps
