Marking pvc structure with GPS when dropping them.

I have two question should it drop them in front,back or side of boat and how many in one spot.

Just drop them. Find on your ff with narrow cone, mark them, come back later and fish them.

what pattern should i drop them in.

The one that gets them over the side of the boat. It's a 50/50 shot. If you have more than one "condo" drop them in different spots. Let the fish tell you. Only one may hold fish certain times of the year. If certain one do better than the others sweeten it a little. Good Luck

drop them in a small circle if possible....but it can be a crap shoot depending on current and wind.

ok should i use a rope to lower them?

I always picked my spots on a previous trip and made a waypoint. When I got ready to drop I knew EXACTLY where it ws going and didnt have to linger around letting everybody on the lake seeing what I was doing.thumbs Up

gabowman what makes u choice a spot for your structures.

As already mentioned, not everywhere is going to be that "prime spot" but until you get some structure out you'll never know. I always placed my structure along the edges of dropoffs on the creek channels that were pretty much void of any natural structure (brushpiles) and along some steep banks where the depth dropped off pretty quick and then became a constant bottom with pretty much the same depth (like a "flat"). There again, I only placed structure where there wasnt any around the area. It also helps knowing that fish are in those areas and you'll be more confident that they'll find your structure. I always tried dropping my structure where the tops wouldnt be less than 6' from the surface. Mostly what I dropped were bamboo buckets with a total height of 10'-15' tall. I never placed shallow piles as I dont fish brush when the fish come shallow.

I lowered mine with a rope and bounced them on the bottom to settle. I wrapped the rope on a rod holder until I could mark waypoint on gps, then pull the rope in. The first four I put in last month and the lake level is low so they are to shallow right now to hold fish. I dropped some bamboo the next week in deeper water and Ive all ready catching fish on them. I made four more pvc structures this week and hope to drop in deeper water soon. Heres some pics of the 2 batchs of pvc.

Try these for marking cribs as they go in. A specified pattern set correctly to the sun will produce maximum results.
