Set er in at Goldcreek landing off 365. Go to right under 365 and railroad track bridge and fish up the creek....go back to old iron bridge. Fish the pads on the way up and at iron bridge. You will catch em....
meatgetter jig #129 or#48 have been catching limits everday in goldcreek!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fishing Conway on the weekend sucks, it's been overly publicized and there are way to many boats for the small area that the fish frequent. It used to be enjoyable to fish Conway, now it is far from enjoyable unless you can go during the week. People who are looking for a easy catch are getting surprised on the weekends, it's far from easy, between getting your line cast over, to people dragging thier anchors from spot to spot instead of picking them up and they are tearing up the structures that are sunk, to people throwing trash out in the water, to people cutting you off, to people not using thier trolling motors to move around and instead using thier outboards at half throttle to move around and throwing a big wake that causes you to bounce your jig 3 feet at a time, it's less than enjoyable, if ya like to get mad when you go fishing then go to Conway on the weekends. There's no special jig or color needed during the week to catch fish any color of tube will do it, but on the weekend there is nothing that will get them fired up to bite, after the buzz of the first 20 or 30 boats run through the creek and into the one acre pocket it's over, that pretty much at daylight. If ya got a fishing hole to fish and it is good to you most of the time, don't post about it on here or the same could happen to it also, and most likely would if ya talk about it. This is sure to upset people, but I am sorry, this is exactly what is going on, no sugar coating from me. People who post on here about Conway, fish it mostly during the week. If they were weeekend fisherman they would not have much to post about.
come tomorrow it wont be crowded or the next three days, all week and the bite will be good.it has been steady bite, yesterday and today 20 boats not bad each day 7 limits on each day early bite then slows to a good mess.yes 40 to 50 boats bad ,only had one sat. that bad and fish were still being caught, gets bad when 5-10 boats thinks its private and get rude.had a boat come off private sector, practicaly run over me intentionally in the rain when they could have went way around me.they heard about it.another tried to block me.that happens often.fishing bullies ha ha. keeping more than limits hurts too.
Gold Creek was Busy on weekends before crappie.com and will be Busy for years to come. Ive fished it when you could walk accross the boats on a sat and came out with a limit of hogs several times. Yes it gets crowded on weekends always has been even before crappie.com. If you have a problem about crowds you may want to find some new water to fish, lots of it around. This may also offend some but I will post what I want, when I want, and how I want as long as its within the rules of the site. If you dont like it by all means dont share info with me, read or replie to my post and by all means dont say hi to me when you see me on the water. Lake Conway/Gold Creek is a public fishing waters for all to enjoy not just a few who get mad because it gets crowded. Sorry I dont suger coat things either.
I've never had any problems but one over there. Only bad experience I've had was that infamous Saturday before deer season started. I was easing up there and goin under the 365 bridge when a boat w two guys in it ran 3/4 throttle at an angle between the same two pillons I was idling in between. It gave me a good soaking and they came within a few inches of running up onto the front deck of my boat. Had I been in my war eagle I would've swamped no doubt. I couldn't believe that it really happened and was soooo thankful that my son or any of my nephews weren't in the boat w me. I've been running a boat since I was a little kid and experienced some crazy boat driving in the duck woods and when I fished bass tournaments, but those dudes risked my life and theirs and I'm not sure why. I wasn't in a race and would have gladly let em slip around me bc I don't know the creek well enough to run it and don't see the need in blowing through there anyway. I never saw em again that day.
Fishing-wise I've never had any problems. When I get near somebody, I just ask em which direction they're headed and yield to everyone. Most folks are cordial at that point. It's never hurt my catches as I've batted .1000 this year over there on 11 trips. That place amazes me.
one thing i have noticed over the years is a good fisherman are going to catch fish regardless of the situation and have very few complaints about the situations their dealt and the wannabees always have a excuse why they cant catch fish!!!!!! just my observation !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm with slabsntaters on this overposting to show u can catch fish is harmfull to small places to fish
What Jerry said!!! BTW, I'm a wannabe. LOL
BRM
I agree with CrappiePro. Speaking as someone who moved to the state a couple years ago, this site is valueable in helping someone new to the area get up to speed. I have fished Caney and Gold just about every Saturday for the last month and have had no problem getting limits every trip regardless of the number of boats. What I have observed in my 25 plus years of fishing is the guy usually complaining about the crowds is the one that doesnt show up until 9am, fishs for 30 minutes and then leaves after not catching anything. I can only fish on the weekends, want to catch fish, therefore have learned to deal with the crowds.
Small Place to Fish? Gold creek is a at least two miles long from the I 40 bridge to the concrete bridge way up the creek there is several large flat areas, creek channel ledges, grass pads, bridges, under water stumps, submerged stumps, Laydowns, Docks, brush along the way and several bridges to fish. And im not even talking about the large pool or small pool. One of the biggest mistakes folks make is heading straight for the pool area and not trying all the water inbetween Dano's and the pool. The flats can be fantastic fishing, fishing shallow casting a jig and bobber. Also another mistake is not fishing at night. It can be just as good or better than the day time as I tried to show you all a few posts ago. Also Gold Creek is not the only place to catch a crappie on Lake Conway. Lil Confused on just how much water you need?
I just have to ask,,if everyone took the position of "lets not post about our success today", what would be the use of having a fine site like crappie.com. Part of fishing,,a large part in my always humble opinion, is shareing your success with others, knowing that they will get some pleasure out of catching fish too. The thing that makes fishing so enjoyable to me is in fishing,,a compatable partner enhances the enjoyment of the act of fishing itself..The laughter of missed strikes,,lost fish,, whatever,, increases with a good friend in the boat,,or on the bank..thats my 2 cents worth...
Yes I agree that when over publising fishing holes does cause problems not only for the fishermen/fisherwomen, but also for the fish. Yes crappiepro over publisizes the holes where he fishes and he does it for reasons. He works during the early week and don't care about the other fishermen. It's clearly stated in his message. I have fished Conway for over 28 plus, yes and it's never been this bad. I have had my boat flipped with two kids in it because of people who think that that is the only place they to fish and they need to hurry up and get their. But I'm sorry when u go fishing it suppose to be for fun, not for everybody else over ur twenty limit. Sorry for not sugar coating it but that's the truth. It sucks having to fish everywhere else instead of being able to fish where u like because of inconciderate people. Thanks for over publisizing places. Besides have anybody thought of fishing the trees at the a frame cove around the trees or the tree and fencing around the dam.
And conferring to the post earlier it's pretty bad when a person tries to take their kids like myself to places I grew up fishing. I'm sorry other peoe get their jollies by telling everyfish they catch, but that is not the purpose of the forum. It's to share different lakes, what to try, and maybe how deep to fish. But not and I repeat not to put them in the live well for them. Their again how can we bring our kids up liking what we liked when they or anybody else can't enjoy what they r doing because of over publisizing!!!!!!!!!
Big slabs, the only place on Conway that I am aware of that has a a-frame house in the cove, is at 3 creeks directly across the lake from Lawrence landing, are these cypress trees, the trees you are referring to, is there anything special in this area that will cause fish to hold in this area. I know the Shad are there, but is there any structure there other than cypress trees that holds fish. Is there any brush or other structures there. I know there is three creeks in this area hence the name three creeks. These are main lake creeks, I have heard that the crappie, or at least the big crappie have stayed out in the main lake this year, I can only imagine why, with all the boats up in the feeder creeks. I have heard this is a hot spot not only in the fall and winter but also in the spring and summer also.
Yes their is structure in this area. Somebody to remain name leas has made concreate structures with stakes sticking out that have attracted all kinds of fish. I'm glad u have asked and if u would like to know right where they are I can show you. I fish them all the time. I have also seen crappiepro fishing them and catching more that two limits at a time off them.
Hay no problem. I've seen more than several boats their. And I have fished their. Culling through ur limit pretty much year around is nothing. If u need more info text or blog and I'll hook u up. I'll find the gps cords and het with you. I have marked them but don't share with everybody.
Big Slabs I dont know who you are? But I can tell everybody on the site you have never seen me catch two limit's of anything in person. The only one out of two of you that was told about any cover placed in the three creeks area was S@T. SO IT APPEARS TOO ME THAT THE TWO OF YOU have gotten together to con-coct a story. JMO If in fact... your boat did get knocked over with your kids in Gold Creek im sorry that happen but I will not take any responsibility for it due to my posting. How bout blaming the person in the boat who threw the wake. To say I dont care about fisherman is simply not the truth either and im sure there are many on here who will diagree with you on that subject. Trust me I dont post every fish I catch on here either. If you guys think I post to much on Gold Creek...NOW!!!! Then you both will really love what im going to post in the future. I also heard that the fish were really bitting in the pool where the cover was placed last year and publicized on the open forum. I am not the only person who posts on Lake Conway/Gold Creek and I wont be the last. Yes the three creeks area is a good place to fish with or without cover, its one of my favorite summer holes but I doubt you are catching squat outta there right now, and if you are please by all means post some pictures and let folks know the three creeks area is hot. Cos my goal on here is to let as many people as possible know about Lake Conway and come catch a Crappie. As I said earlier I will Post what I want, when I want, and as Often as I want and really dont take kindly to people on here trying to Bullie me into posting what they want me to post. I have drove by plenty of times on Sat at Gold Creek and not seen many boats at all. This is the last I will post on this NON-SENCE you can bet on that...
I think everyone has had their say on this so let's let it go. If not I will delete the whole thread.
Hey Nimrod, I just feel naked without a minnow or goldfish on my jig! Btw.....I met you at their cabin on the Little Red a couple of years ago! I still want to take you up on a crappie or catfishing trip sometime!!!
