Way too much stuff, huh.
Wow-I'd say your ready. I have my FL 18 in the living room right by the electrical plug. Our little ponds & swamps have some skim ice, but that's it. Were Perchin' for Thanksgiving. After this week we may be ready for shrink wrap..Hate to put that boat away, but love the ice fishing...
I saw a post in another board where people were out on a shore of Mille Lacs today and another was on ice near Duluth. 40's and low 50's here in the SE today so nobody standing on hard water. It's still 44 degrees right now at 9:20 pm.
We got 45 right now, and it's going into the 50's. No hard water for a while. Close to 40's next week too..Have the boat out another week...Yahoo
I was down on the Mississippi today. Fished docks but lots of boats heading down despite the wind. 3:40 pm and the street lights just came on....sky is real thick and they're yacking rain. We're sitting on 51 degrees for now but tomorrow's rain is supposed to turn to snow/sleet and its headed right to Michigan. Enjoy.
We hit 60 today, supposed to rain tomorrow...
The weather radar shows rain right on our city limits so we'll be getting damp. its 51 here right now. Tomorrow is supposed to start out nice temp-wise, but take a dump during the day sometime with temps falling into the low 30's and 20s by nightime. Its all moving to the east-northeast. Maybe you'll see it Sunday. Sure wish the Lions would have stopped that GB streak Thursday.
Its trying. Still a little warm. 28 this morning.
We were white right away this morning. Now we're about 50/50. Very little ice around yet which is probablt good based on the weather map I saw last night. Lots of snow chances well into next week. Don't want ANY snow on young ice.
Down in the south western part of WI on the Miss. River we have a few spots with what we call paper ice. VERY THIN But this is going to change if the weather man is right. Low teens and high 20's next week. SHOULD HAVE WALKING ICE BY WEDNESDAY. !!!!##@@@@@ Be safe and have fun STEVE
Little to NO ice here in S.E. Michigan  Some small lakes and ponds were skimmed over but with the 50 degree rain we've had destroyed all of it. Mabe by new years Doh
3 inches of snow today may slow down the freeze but plenty of cold in the forcast.
No ice here in Northeast Michigan...
Warm downpours killed the skim ice that was forming in some quiet backwaters. Calling for another cool down but doubt seriously we'll be out before the first of the year
Fingers crossed Swift, low in the 20's-teens for the next week
OMG!... I coudn't take it!.. you guys are tuff... if the lakes ice here we are in bad shape!
I would guess dock shooten is out by then...LOL
3 degrees here now! Makin ice for sure! Maaaaayyybeee this weekend??? It's almost freeze yer beer cold.
Ya Willie...its got some serious chill in the air tonight. I set the 20 power marine binocs on the tripod and set it up out in the driveway to view jupiter. I could see two of the moons. Pretty neat stuff. I gotta admit though that thinking I could grab ten minutes out there in my t-shirt got to be a bit much at around 10 degrees here....had to get a shirt half way thru. The wide spot above the small spillway in the stream behind our property has shale on it tonght so things will definitely tighten up betwixt tonight and tomorrow/tomorrow night.
In Minneapolis this afternoon: Wirth covered over, Brownie covered over, Cedar only open water in northern quarter, Isles covered over except one small spot in far west edge, Harriet and Calhoun both still wide open of course, Nokomis about 70 per cent covered, Hiawatha close to 95% iced over. How deep the ice is I don't know but just beyond the unsafe ice sign down on the east end of the Lake of the Isles there was a portashack out. PFD, picks, and spud for sure, but there are some spots that are worth looking at right now for walk on, if one is really careful. Highs tomorrow only into the mid-20s. Last jigs came in the mail today. Maybe for a little while tomorrow afternoon, depending on how adventurous I feel. Next week for sure.
These are all core Metro lakes, the outer ring suburbs and the surrounding countryside are 5 degrees colder yet. Gentlemen start your augers. :)
Getting the portable down from the rafters and bringing the auger to work tomorrow for a pre-season tune. :)
Fellas, have fun and be safe. We're a few weeks away here in northwest PA. Highs in the 30's all week. Going up to the 40's monday and tuesday so it'll be a while for us here. Guess i'll keep shore fishing, since i put the boat away already.
lol
This here old dawg just aint up to going for a cold swim simply to be first one out on the ice. I let others do that and look for fishing holes and pedestrian tracks that did the preliminary testing. I haven't gone through for the first time yet, and that is one experience I hope to avoid forever. Knock on wood.
Around here those firsts are starting to show up; so pretty soon now I can come in on the second wave on some of our waters. The lakes I fish are pretty small, nothing over 400 or 500 acres and are deep in the Metro to boot. So I am more than happy to let others break the path.
I've done the cold water dunk three times. That's enough for me. I wait until I see a path now, fish aren't that important now at my age.
Got a good laugh at this..
Im not the only one chompin at the bit..
It made a little ice on the swamps last night. Supposed to go to the 20's for a good part of next week, so were getting there..
Saw 7 portables out on my way home. It's time.. :)
Were supposed to hit 10 tonight, and it was only 27 today. We will be fishing by Christmas or before...rotfl:crazy:
Today is the first time in a week it is supposed to get up to freezing around here. Friday and Saturday mornings it got down to 5 and 6 degrees in the City and below zero outside the Metro urban heat island. It is getting close even for us cautious old goats...
Finally. Today I have time. I'm gonna go give it a try.
:d
I'm jelous banghead The wind blew off the little ice I had
Got up to 46 here today and rain coming tomorrow. Going to have to start all over now.bash
Our ice is getting ruined too. I sat on 6 inches sunday and it hasnt dropped below freezing since. Lots of water on top. Saw a few people fishing on a bucket today. Its supposed to rain tonight into tomorrow. glad I made it out once anyways.
A good fishing private lake was skimmed completely over this AM, 50* and T-Storms forecast for tomorrow. 1/1/12 if we're lucky, got $10 on on it with a friend for after that. Don't like it but reality is an interesting concept
The smaller, shallower waters are running as much as 5 and 6 inches of good ice even in the metro and as warm as it has been. There is even a good skim still on Calhoun, which is really early. I am going to try it tomorrow, provided it isn't raining. All rigged up and ready. I didn't quite make it out this afternoon.
Ice? Not anymore, it was forming fast but ........ 50* and raining fairly hard, forecast shows nothing promising in the short term
No ice here for a good while. It's 41 now with rain. I'm about bored....banghead
