I have two, in the barn somewhere,,, don't like them, swithced to outlaw and sam heaton like them.
yellowjacket. I have a 10' and 2 12' and really like them. I also have a 10' Sam Heaton I like(Wife's). Very little difference in 10'. The Sam SS may be a little more sensitive, but I like the feel of the Ozark better.I'm comparing the 10' against the 10'. I got the set forward poles and would get rear seat reel type if I had it to do over. Hope this helps.
Yellow Jacket, you have made a good choice by picking Ozark Rods. My preference is the Tony Edger Sig Series 11 foot rear seated rod for verticle jigging. Its the lightest, toughest, most sensitive rod I have found that wont break easily and has just the right back bone to wrestle those slabs out of the brush... The Titanium tip (designed by our very own Midsouth Man) on the rod is made to reach down and poke that jig out and no eyelet to break off when hung up. It has been field tested by myself and several others who I know are some of the best Jig fisherman I know. I have turned several members onto the rods. All I have heard,is Hey Man? can you get me one of those rods? They also have replacement tips if by chance you break it (this will only happen if You step on it, slam a car door on it, or use it to beat off Wasp). It's what I use here on Lake Conway and anywhere im verticle jigging. It is Crappie Pro approved and has been put to the test. I dont work for them, im just giving you a honest anwser about the rod. The rod has brought hundred's of crappie over the sides of my boats. PM Me If you want one and will get one in your hands. Most likely you will be PMing me agian wanting another one for you or one of your buddy's. Ohh ya you wont find My Ozark rod's in a barn either, You will most likely find them in my hand doing battle with a big ole slab. CP
dont like them they are like using a 2X4 . someone talked me a few years ago to use them they were like fishing with a board , gave them away, and he is still mad at me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now Jerry I cant have you coming up here Fishing in my fishing holes, then bad mouthing the rod I use. That just isnt right. You wont ever see one of those ole wimpy sticks you use in my hand. I was almost going to bye one until someone I know had four of them ole wimpy sticks in the last 5 or 6 months and broke all four of em. AT least three of em wasnt his fault. HAHA!!!
Umm,,well,,I have one of the rods in question, its a tad bit heavier, but a whole lot stronger, its a fine rod in my opinion,,also had one of the "others' Its back in Houston, with a broken tip, about 5 inches of the tip broke off while unhooking a crappie...they have a problem with the last few inches of the tip, other than that,,it was a dream rod, light and very sensitive. Hey, what a way to begin my membership on crappie.com...in a debate over rods.
I see it all the time. You sacrafice strength and durability, for light and sensitive and sometimes vice versa. Sure a light rod feels great in the hand and its going to feel sensitive but will it stand up to the test of time, most cases it will not, it will break. With the Ozark Rod you have a happy medium, A rod that has strength/durability and is just as light and sensitive as most quality rods. The rod is made to go down and get ur Jig out of brush and not break providing ur not fishing water deeper than the rod of course. The Titanium tip on the rod will safe you time from retieng, pay for its self in jigs saved, and youll have a rod with a tip a whole lot longer. You can break a Ozark rod as with any rod. But you better pack a lunch cos it's going to take you awhile.
i am sure they are both great rods i have four of the rods i use two 11ft &two 12ft i have used the same rods for four or five years and caught a ton of fish i have never broke one!!! but everone has there opinion and i have four 2 11fts and 2 12ft crappie getter jig poles .
I'm not having any problems with my 12' Bucks poles. Are the OZARKS that much better?
They are the toughest lightest rod I have found, they have 12 footers to, since ive been using the rear seated rods. All my long handle Bms are leaning on the wall waiting on a spider rigging trip. With the rear seated 11 foot rod You have just as much length as a 12 foot long handle rod, minus the weight. Xring has got one CA pick it up next time you see him. The tip of the rod is the best ive seen.
All rods have good points and bad ones, but the titanium tip is a great feature!!!
I own two 11' ers and one 9' casting rod. I can jig from sun up to sun down and never get tired of holding them.I can jab jigs outa brush, rocks, you name it.They havent stood the test of time yet,but im betting they will
Everything Crappiepro sad and more about the Tony Edger Sig. Series rods. I use the 10' rod every time I'm on the water Crappie fishing shallow or deep brush tops. This spring we put the rod to its ultimate test, not only with slab crappie we caught all spring but with this monster Flathead catfish that weighed in at 43 lb 6 oz. All three of us battled this fish for a total of 45 min. and the young man in the pic. was the winner of the fight. I don't know if they make the sig. series in the 10' rod anymore but I would buy two in a heart beat. I seen this rod bent were no other crappie rod would go without breaking. If you look close in the background you can see the rod in the back of the boat.

WOW....DUDE That is one hellofa Fish. And you guys caught it on the 10' Tony Edger. I think we would have all loved to had some of that action. That would have snapped most crappie rods like a twig. Ozark Jig Poles are the toughest, lightest, most sensitive rod youll ever own. You know the ole saying You Can lead a Horse to water but you just can't make em drink. Thanks for the great Pics and compliments on The Tony Edger Sig series rods. Yes they still make the 10 footers. But most of all congrats on a great fish catch. I guarantee you most of us will go to our maker before we cacth one like that on a 10 foot crappie Jig pole.
Thats a awesome feat, I have never seen a catfish mounted,,but I think it and the rod should adorn the wall from this day on..I was going to tell about the catfish I caught on mine,,but decided not too..he was about 5 pounds...and he was a tussle....
I never have seen one mounted myself but I'm sure someone has. It sure would have been a good one to mount for the memories of that day. CP... I know what you mean about the horse but once they get a taste, I think you wouldn't have to lead them again...
