Dang Jeff! What part of "lets keep these a secret" don't you understand? Doh Next thing you know is that you will be telling them we are putting them in Sledd Creek in 10-12 feet of water! IF that secret got out, we would never get to fish them cause Whiskers then would sidescan them and sell them on here!Devil Icon
Considering there are generally more "visitors" (ie - lurkers) looking over this site, than there are actual "members" .... a little "misinformation" might not be a bad thing Hands Clapping (well ... just as long as the "real" coords are PM'd to the appropriate persons, that is Rofl )
... cp
Believe I might have seen some of this material getting dropped this morning, don't worry your secret is safe with me. I won't tell anybody they went in Big Bear in 10fow,LOL:cool:
Are you sure you weren't on Barkely Lake today?? Ha! Maybe your eyes were playing tricks on you?? Did it look anything like this??
Attachment 73332 Thumbs Up
Also next time your on Barkley and you see this type of vessel please feel free to swap positions for awhile if the fish are biting that good. Nice Catch!!
yep,that was it
Pab I know you were in Sugar, so there is a start.
Looks like fun...Love sinking stuff.....but one question.................is it legal ??????
rocketman....that's my question to...do you need permits do drop those??? glad you guys are doing it....i'll never find em but thought about doing something like that for the 1 or 2 trips i make down there a year
I had a game warden come up to me one time while I was loading a bed on the boat at the bank. He told me he was glad I was putting out stuff. He also asked where I was puting them and I said I guess your gonna have to take me in because I ain't telling! He just laughed and said all he wanted to know was which bay. He said that they are required to put out so much structure a year and he could count what I had put out in his quota. I said no problem and told him which bay and how many. I asked him if there were any certain rules to putting out structure and he said- By text book, they should be in 9 feet of water at winter pool. If they are in less, then they should be marked with a piece of pvc pipe. I said OK and left it at that. He was real nice about everything and thanked me again. Then he inspected my boat. Good thing I had everything I needed in there but I understand he had a job to do. So to answer your question, as far as I know, you do not have to have a permit on Kentucky and Barkley Lakes. But the rules may have changed cause this happened about 14 years ago.
Your so knowledgable can't wait till this weekend got to get one of them porkchops
TVA is the one you have to worry about not kdfwr. They do require a permit supposedly, I e-mailed back and forth with Paul Rister quite a bit this spring about this issue. It took him several weeks to even get a straight answer from them. In the end some things are easier to ask for forgiveness than permission. If anyone is interested in going the permit route send me a pm and I will forward Paul's e-mail that outlines the permit process and links to paperwork.
Had a game warden on lake cumberland tell me it was illegal to sink anything... whether you bring it with you, drag it off the bank, cut it down, or buy it at a store. they said it was part of the kdfwr job to place fish habitat. I have seen them fishing on ky afield and heard people say on the program that they had sunk cover in certain lakes, so I went to Frankfort to the office and they said no you cant, then they looked up kyafield, and had not one good answer why on national tv they would let someone talk about sinking cover. They agreed it sent the wrong message but said pretty much if you were caught you would be fined. thats straight from the horses mouth figure of it what you can. i guess just dont get caught.
dont know about ky lake but i can garuntee its illegal at cumberland,During a trip to the game farm with the family in Frankfort, I had about a 20 min conversation with three different wardens and thats what they all told me. Maybe its different for different fisheries districts. And i know alot of people sink structure of all kinds and I do too, Im just telling you what i was told.
