Lorance hds warrantys--i'm ragging again!

Another Saga in the life of Crappiegirl 1 and the fishfinder quest. Now that i had settled down with the Lowrance HDS7 with structure scan and was getting along with it pretty good-------------BOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Did the June update in October (hadnt been using the boat) and the minute i put the update card in the HDS and downloaded-------------the HDS never worked again--------------BOOM-------GONE----------------NO BUTTONS WORK----------------DEAD!

many calls later to customer service, i send it in to them-----------insured of course.

OCT 13 unit sent in 2 day mail (keep receipts)
OCT 18 call to make sure they received the unit----YES the received the unit---we are going over it now
OCT 20 call to see whats going on with the unit ----unit will have to be replaced, we have no new ones in stock, there is an order coming in and yours will be
mailed out on OCT 25
OCT 25 called to see if my "new" unit has been mailed out as promised------------well , noooooo, we wont have any coming in for awhile yet--------------what
happened to the OCT 25 order-------WELL, didnt know anything about that one WELL FIND THE
H--OUT!
OCT26 where is my new hds 7 that was to be shipped on the 25th, HE said another order of them may be coming in------------ might want to call back friday, maybe we will know more
OCT28 well its fri, I WANT MY HDS 7 NEW REPLACEMENT, IM SUPPOSED TO GO TO NORTHERN FLORIDA TO TALQUIN AND I AM PI-------
i want to talk to mgmt. well i will transfer you. ok, it says in your warranty to allow up to 20 days, i said, thats for FIXING mine is to be replaced support was to ship a new replacement the 25th of OCT. Weeeeelllllll sent you a refurbished unit out probably today---------------I said i dont want a refurbished unit, i dont want some one elses problems i was told i was getting replaced with a new one---------------WHERE IS IT? WELL it says in your warranty------------------------s--- the warranty---have somebody over you phone me back or send me my money back
for the HDS 7 THAT HAS BEEN USED MAYBE 10 TIME purchased in feb 2011

OCT28 phone again, this time i get the SIMRAD division, "Tom" who sees my side of things clearly, does a little investigating, finds a brand new hds 7 somewhere and is shipping overnight at his expense---GIVE THAT MAN A DRINK AND A CIGAR! Then calls me back and confirms its going out tonight! what a great guy!

So what's the problem? Wouldn't it be nice if everyone just did what they said with out having to ask for a manager.

assume you're not gonna find out what happened to the first one to cause it to go DOA?

Atleast by pushing so many buttons you FINALLY got the right person on the phone. After it's all said and done I'd call back and speak with Tom (thinking he's THE big wheel) and let him know how you were treated.:mad:

I hope that you expressed your graditude to good ol Tom. It sounds like he went above and beyond what the other pukes were willing to do. "Tom", if you read this you rock man, way to go!

Yea I agree, Tom, YOU ARE THE MAN! That being said, if they would have fixed your original unit, it would have been Refurbished!!! Lots of dealers sell refurbished items, TM's, FF's, etc. 99% of the time, they look and work like new.

Congratulations,crappie girl !!!!!!!!!! way to stand your ground.and to think after all that you had been through tom tryed to make you feel guilty by saying that money was coming out of his pockit.he should be ashamed.im glad that you got your new unit and i hope tom reads this because he owes you and apology.

Kosmos, he wasnt trying to make me feel guilty about anything he was just trying to make wrong -right i believe, and wanted to get me the unit quickly at lowrance expense due to all i had been through. he even phoned me back to confirm that the shipping was taken care of . VERY NICE!

Sorry I didn't see this post..I haven't been on the computer much since Fri. So if, I'm reading your post right they are sending you a new unit out to you last Friday or this Monday??? If you run to any more problems please send me a PM and I will try help on my end.

Great to hear you got it worked out. I have never had a problem with them before and have been using them for 12 years now. But sometimes its who you are talking to on the phone that makes a difference. I bet someone mentioned it at the next meeting, or should have. Customer service has been what makes them great for years, sorry to hear about your hiccup with them.

Hope the new one does you well.

The replacement HDS 7 arrived as promised this afternoon. Update for everyone tomorrow !

this update is not tomorrow, but a little later than that.
here it is---After looking at the "NEW" unit carefully before putting it on the boat, i had made up my mind that this was NOT a new unit as promised. several issues that lead me to believe that. i immediately called lowrance and told them my opinion and to log it in my file that i had phoned before ever putting it on the boat.
after putting it on the boat and making several test runs, i discovered that the update that was supposed to take care of the blank space at the top of the screen had not worked on this unit, as although it showed the update, the blank place was still at the top of the water line so to speak.
in addition, the clarity of the water was not as good as my old unit as far as surface clutter goes i guess is the way you would describe it.
then to top it all off, i took screen captures of the different things i noticed in my opinion were not correct and when i went to download the files on my newly formatted scan disk card that i always i have used with my hds7, i got pictures downloaded on it from somewhere i never saw before, some not even related to fishing----------------OMG. called Tom, my go to guy, and he said the numbers on it are NEW from the factory------------i said well Guess Again. Send it to me, he says, so Mon, out it went another $25.00 . Tom phoned today, after looking at the unit when it came in today, and said, i was a little skeptical untill i did a factory reset on it and then it looked ok. i said i did several factory resets and then i goes back to looking the same, and the waterline is always blank at the top and then go to the files and try downloading them and see what you get! he phoned back and said i am sending you out another BRAND NEW unit , it will be there Mon.
MONDAY when it arrives, i think ill just phone them and tell them to Just put me on the STAFF~! LOL

UPDATE: wed before thanksgiving tomorrow. A new unit arrives. Put on boat. School is still out! till next post-----------------

Crappiegirl1,hang in there..I feel your pain as I have a RF problem on my HB that we can't seem to clear up..This makes the SI & DI unusable.:(
I have pulled all wiring out of my boat and re-wired it completely..You know the story, still RF...If I can hold out long enough I think my problem can be solved...
