Good idea but I'm talking about the way old folk's use to do it at hog killing time,salted down and cured then hung in the smokehouse.How many day's in the cure and how many day's in the smokehouse no heat just smoke.
go to google ya gewb and type in curing hams and old timers way or something like that. Sure you'll find something that way

Grave Digger, go to MSDEER.NET and look in the recipes forum. There is an old thread there that has everything you need. The guy who did it was Terry08 on there, you could just PM him and he would be able to find it pretty quick.Quote:

Gravedigger, I wish I had wrote it all down, when I was a kid Granddad and Daddy would kill hogs and cure hams and Mom would make lye soap out of the fat. That lye soap would get diesel out of blue jeans, but would also take the hide off your legs if Mom made it too strong.

Yea Torch that's me I can remember hog killing time just was'nt old enuff to to remember all the step's to curing ham's and bacon.It was an all day deal I was big enuff to get the job of keeping the green fly's shood away cause everybody had a job.The men did the killing,butchering and salting the meat,women cleaned chittlen's and made crakelins oh the good ol day's.Yall keep on picking on me cause of my puter ingnurnc and I won't offer yall no goodies when I figure it out:o
