just curious
how come this weekend will be the last cdc tourny? i understand deer season is here and the cold weather.... but crappie fishing can be at it's best from now until it freezes over... i also understand people may not like the cold weather, but for those willing to sit out in the wood's in the cold for hour's waiting on a deer, i would think they do the same when it come's to wintertime fishing? people were fishing the cdc tourny's when it was 110 degrees out, i would think they would come out in 40 or 50 degree weather? anyway's just wondering... i'm a big bowhunter myself but i will also be fishing until the water turn's hard:D

Im with you .....I plan on go to my brothers in cole camp for deer season, taking the boat with me.....Plans are surf and turf for dinner......hunt in the morning and fish in the afternoon.

We only scheduled through Oct. But can have another or two if we can get enough people to have them. Was thinking of having one in early November before deer season. Maybe a little less formal. Was thinking maybe a $10 entry per boat or even a $5 per man and have a 3 or 5 fish weigh in. More of a bragging rights tournament for us die hard cold weather fisherman. I would prefer to have it at Sparrowfoot though. Less miles for me to drag everything. Then would be closer to the upper Grand river and Deepwater creek and about the same run to Hay and Otter by water as from leaving Bucksaw. Or people can trailer as always. We will see what everyone wants to do. If we have enough we can do a full blown one at Bucksaw also. But for 5-10 boats I would rather keep it closer to home to save me some time and money.

Im up for it until it gets bitter cold. or the water gets hard.. I like the smaller weigh in maybe a 3-5 like you were sayin can go either way on the entry fee.. Sparrow foot would vbe good for me. a little farther to drive since my lake house is just outside Warsaw.

HECK YA MAKE IT HAPPEN !!! Think i would stay with the 7 fish limit ............
-
You can count me in. I would leave everything the same though. Maybe allow spider rigging. Catching 7 fish should not be a problem that time of year. Keeping them alive is lots easier too.
-
Would love to fish one in nov/dec,im so ready to start fishn again, sports are almost ovvvvver....
-
Ah,.....,,,..... Because you win them all, duh?
-
Now Big Stick I think u win one or two LOL
-
sound like more of a contest than a tournament,,,, I like contest, never win them but I like them

Disagree with Sparrowfoot as a choice unless the lake comes up some. People that want to fish there can always trailer. Late monday evening there was a very nice boat impaled on a flat halfway between the ramp and the trestle, it got stuck in the early afternoon. Around 6:00 last evening it was still there and looked to have been abandoned for overnight. I wish the owner well, know he has to be heartbroken. Hopefully they get if off somehow today with as little damage as possible. It was so far up on the flat that other boats trying to help couldn't get close, going to be a chore to remove.
-
X2 on that, sparrowfoot has got some mud flats and some rocky as heck flats are in less than a foot of water right now...... hate to hear that on the guys boat, and if he did'nt get it out last night, today's wind won't help, it is a whistling dixie here in windsor......
-
November is looking pretty busy for me. If someone wants to try and throw something together I will try and help out but not sure i have a weekend that will work except for maybe one and that would be during deer season which will take away from turnout for sure. Maybe a 7:30-1 or 1:30 would be a better idea also in case of bad weather.
-
I just went back and looked and the boat that got stuck is still there. Its on the flat that is straight out from the bluff behind the campgrounds maybe 100 yards out. The channel runs along the bluff side, be careful out there.

Man that sucks.Dont think i could bring myself to leave my boat there though. I would wade and dig till it was free or i was done in.
-
That is the same place the nephew (and he knows better) got over a tad bit to much to the east and it cost it a lower unit........ nasty over there......too bad with the ramp fees we pay that the corps couldn't have put a few shallow bouys in some of them area's if they are going to keep the lake so low for so long......
-
the lake i fish in Canada doesn't have near this many hazards, yet they have channel markers out all over the lake
-
Only wish there was a hard water contest that is alot of fun. Coming from the north country this is a little new to me fished crappie spring and after hard ice all year round is different.
-
I went for a little drive to the bluff this morning. That boat is still there... I hope this wind lets up soon so the guy can get his boat rescued from the lake.
-
I have scales, if I'm not swamped I could run the tournaments this winter.
