I still like reading everyones report ,now you have to go to different sections to do it.if you fish a certain lake are you to only read about that lake?It feels like you are not welcomed except in your own area.thats the way it seems anyhow.
I agree. Takes a lot longer to go through the forum.
Feels like a step back instead of forward.
My vote is to go back. But I'm often in the minority.
G.
Bump!!!
Not good at all, just my 2 cents, wat a shame its came to this:(
I understand what you’re saying about the segregation even further. However it breaks it down and a cleaner look and I find it easier to find what I am looking for. Given that it is very new the forums will be cleaned up some from what I have read and specific discussions will be easier to locate. If the format is followed by those who post that is.
I am still new here and don’t know the history of why it was done. But I am sure there was a good reason.
Well, we're going to try it this way for a while. We've tried very hard to get past the online bickering between the two lake area's in question, and have not found a way. I've previously thought that Area Forums as opposed to State Forums for areas that have large fishing communities would be a good idea, so the opportunity presented itself here, and this is my first trial. We'll see how it goes. That's what's nice about the Internet, change is easy to make, so we can always change back. Sorry for some of the confusion over multiple boards, but I think it'll be better in the long run.
Oh, I really don't want to talk about that "bickering" that I speak of in the open forum. Some of which has taken place behind the scenes here. It does no one any good. If you have questions, you are welcome to PM me as opposed to airing our dirty laundy here.
I dont like dirty laundry, always requires washing, drying, and folding or putting on hangers, I prefer to just fish!
Why was the forum divided? Everyone was free to post ... and read what they liked. If you weren't interested in a post about another area, it was easy to skip it but you could still see by the thread titles if there was something you might want to read... For example, I don't fish Truman often but don't want to miss information about plans for camp there. Now I have to read TWO forums to do it. Besides, I like to see how others are doing. Less likely to read all three forums now...
x2 from a nooB on here. I don't understand what prompted this actions. It's not like there is so much traffic and new threads that things fell off page one in an hour or two... dead stories are still on page one days after their last post. I've seen other forums do this, but it was for exactly what I mentioned. If you posted a thread there were so many responses to other threads, new threads, etc. that your thread fell off page one/two in hours, not days.
Oh well, we're all just guest here. Don't worry, be happy.
There's division?
Not many new post. Could be the effect of the change. Not a fan of the new set up.
There was some heated discussion last week about secret fishing spots and not wanting to share info. The guys from one lake were beter than the other because they were more likely to help others out. You all know the whaaaa whaaaa whaaaa. It is a shame that just a few can spoil a good thing.
I think the some of them were once green carp nuts or maybe even some trout guys not wanting to share info and instead giving smart remarks thus more fuel for the fire.
I started the "secret" thread last week when I posted a picture of a crappie and blurred out the background due to visible landmarks in the background. As a joke and a little ribbing I added the text about OSS secret spot #153. (all falls within the rules of the site) Nothing more than a joke was intended by the post. The entire thread was pulled do to the "heated discussion" that broke out. I never seen any of it. It is a big lake with plenty of fish and I regularly put how and the type of water being fished, just not exact location. Sorry if that hurts anyone's feelings.
The spot in question is a very small area and is known by a few locals as a great winter time spot. It can easily get to crowded to fish. The person that got called out for not posting info does a lot to help others out on here. More than most from what I have seen. As far as I know he never was a green carp or trout fisherman. He has been known to catch a few drum from time to time though. Can't blame a guy for holding out on one spot. Heck I have been razzed because I have gave out to much info on here. So kind of hard to decide what info to post at times. There are many who never post a report let alone where they were fishing. We just need to keep it friendly. It is up to each member what they post and how much info the give up. Not hard to get a pattern going by the info given by people on here. No one should have to give the exact location of where they are fishing to help others. If so if they PM him I am sure he would help them out further. When someone asks about info here it always gets a reply with help on an area to try and a technique to use. Let's keep the helpful info going and not worry about who post enough or not enough info in your opinion to be helpfull.
x2 i have never seen any gps coordinates posted and if so i dont even own a gps so no good to me i think most people just want to have fun and catch a few fish im from the st.louis area so dont get down there much but i sure appreciate all the help i get when i go! nothing like driving 3hrs to get skunked Thanks To all that help!
The majority of the individuals that post info on this site (which is great) are very willing to help others out. There is no other site that one can go to and receive the amount of information available here on CDC about crappie fishing. Not to mention the jokes and stories by Beagle.
I seen the original post figured that it was to rib someone else and did not think to much about it. If someone wants to share there success with others that is great but they do not have to share there exact location with a GPS coordinate to boot unless they want to. It was the heat that some were better than others that got the thing booted off.
I am not crazy about the new format but as mentioned in another post we are guests here. So if this is the way that it has to be then so be it just takes a few more clicks and a little more time to check everything out.
Well said Sow tamer.
I have a bazillion TOP SECRET spots on Truman. Only problem is........everytime I try to fish one there are 3 boats on it already.:(
With about 1500 miles of shore line on Truman I'm betting there is room for everyone...
There is no one who could think this new division is good for the MO board even if you are good at Math.
Whoops I accidently posted this in the wrong forum.:p
I will go back to the All Other Lakes Section now?????
Just wonder who likes the new format? For the record I don't.
it's different, but I'm fine with it. all the same good info is still here, just different than before. so it really doesn't matter
I'm ok with it. It's still a lot easier to navigate than most.
A person gets use to seeing something and gets comfortable with it, then it changes, now you have to learn all over again Why? I'd say for the most part people are happy being able to understand what there doing. If there is something bothering them they will learn to get around it quicker by them selves rather than someone trying to help them. I have found this site to be one of the best if not the best site to go to for information on how and where to catch fish. The people out here are great. Yes I'll get use to this new format, so who's to say it won't change again.Just my two cents, hope I didn't offend anyone
"Mongo want more beans".....Blazing Saddles...couldn't help myself...sorryWhite Flag Icon
Some things you never get comfortable seeing………Jackb for example Rofl
I’m not saying it’s not the best site for fishing around. Thumbs Up I just think it’s funny ONLY the MO board had to change. If the entire site changed I’d understand. I can’t see the benefit, it’s not like you can’t just click some lake other than YOUR OWN  and post anywhere or in another state for that matter. There is no benefit only separation and division! Doh
Someone start a poll and see how many like it or not and maybe we can get our site back like the rest of the board.
You have an issue with it, take it up with Slab. He has mentioned why the change has taken place here and in other parts of the MO board.
no comment.......
All I have to say is if Slab wants it THIS way........Sounds GOOD to me!!!! Thanks Slab!!
I hope i dont offend anybody...butt...i like the new set up i have never fished smithville/twain/ozarks/..i only want to know info on truman.not saying i will nver fish it but i focus only on truman...im 45 minutes from smithville, never fished it..
I dont think anyone is offended by if someone likes it or dislikes it. Its just what people are use to and what seemed to work is now different. Either way each person is entitled to an opinion, at least thats what I think.
Feedback is good even if its negative, it gives Slab and other moderators something to build off of for future changes.
No offence taken, but if this way is better we should get rid of the state boards and just make it by lake. I live close to the state line and sometimes what to know info about Lake Perry. I go the Kansas board and the guys over there are adults and very helpful. The site is for fun not division (not math)??? Again out off all the states which state looks like a bunch of fools?
