I retired a year and a half ago at age 60, best move I ever made. Wish I could have done it earlier.
I only have about 30 more years to go!
And that's if I can retire at 63...
stumpjumper, that sounds good to me too! I fished right passed you at Connerly Bayou last year. My son told me who you were after we got passed. He gets on here and reads the articles sometimes. I did see you put a couple of good ones in the boat though.

Like Tav2, got about 30 years more of the grind. Maybe I'll win the powerball, and knock that number down a bit... :)
Hopin' I can be retired in 5-7 years.
I retired 3 years ago at 52 years old. It wasnt planned but the company I worked for shut the doors and left us high and dry. I'd work again if I found a good job...but unless I have to I aint working for minimum wages again.
i retired dec of last year with 30years with the state and i love ever min. of it , retirement that is iam 58.
I sell boats. I'll work till I die!!!
24 and working hard!!!! Hopin my sugar momma will come through in being a Nurse Practicioner and make the big bucks!!! :D That a way i can retire after 20 years from where i work now at 42!!! Hey i can dream can't I???
Looking at a little less than 6 years to retirement from the State Agency I work for. At that time I will have 37 years on the books. I did 3 years active duty in the Reg Army and 27 years in the Army Reserves. Can't draw on that for another 6 years when I will be 60. Planing on retiring at age 60. Hopeing I have enough income to put bread on the table and a few crappie in the skillet at that time.
I retired from the railroad in 2000 on a medical. But have been able to do most of what I want to. Just moved to Lake Nimrod and think I'm going to like retirement a lot better. I thought retirment was great before the move.
Just retired this week on medical after 35 years in the printing industry. Kind of a scary feeling at first but I live right on Lake Nimrod by Harold and best of all...no more daily 3 hour round trips driving to work in Litte Rock.
I retired in July. I Looked at all my options, realized the only thing I was working for was healthcare. Checked out the cost of COBRA vs. the cost of driving 50 miles one way to work, and found I was working for .25 an hour. Not a real tough decision. Bought a mustang convertible, a boat and a recliner and dropped out.
Just wanted to point out to all you retired folks ..... Remember to keep up an active and invigorating lifestyle and don't get too friendly with the "easy chair". Enroll in a "silver slippers" exercise maintence program if one is available in your area (Medicare will pay for it). As a P.T. who sees primarily geriatric patients I preach to folks everyday about the importance of maintaining a good activity level. With respect to muscles it is strictly "USE "EM OR LOOSE "EM"!! Remember, your TV can send you to an early grave! I'm 56 and I set my own hours and work everyday and love it......almost as much as Crappie fishing! The only thing that would cause me to retire would be some type of health problem that would limit what I am able to do. Anyway, just some FYI to think about...
Hey luvpt,
I've heard of tennis elbow but can you get "fishin' elbow"??:)
Retired Aug 2011 from the UPPR love to fish Canney Creek in Conway but we need rain and a big temp. drop to get the big boys goin I went Friday you would have thought by the number of cars and boat trailers in the parking lot they were hauling out limits sorry to say from what I saw a lot of fishin was being done as opposed to catching.I am sure Sat. was worse. One of the best things about retirement not having to fish weekends makes for a lot less stress.
Depends on how good a fisherman you are! LOL I have had a touch of it a few times after fishing some of our MS river lakes! We thumped 'em pretty good yesterday at the Rockpile (South of Eudora) and delayed onset muscle soreness is working on my right arm at this very moment...... I think more fishing is the only cure!! Keep 'em limbered up!
Going on two years retired, named my boat job site,it keeps me in shape.Rearching out grabing swinging fish, bending over dropping them in cooler, ducking under tree limbs and logs, slapping skeers. No bells or screens to hurt my eyes or ears.I can heard a bushlytail just thinking about cracking a nut and see a chigger crawl up a ants leg.Pray everly night got to go back to earning a living and be more carefull not to fall over the trailer hitch again, love retire'ment.
Still working for another 20 yrs
Putting my wife through school so I can retire early! Now thats a plan! hahahaha, in about 15 more years! DOH!! Doh
luvpt, I'm just 3 years older than you and I hear what you're saying but I have to go to work to get a break. When I'm home I am working all of the time except if I'm hunting or fishing. lol I've got 81 and 1/2 acres to keep up and I never seem to run out of something that needs to be done. Our pastimes can be work too but its fun work! I don't think I will ever completely retire but maybe I can slow down a little.

Hoping to retire at age 55....I'm only 33 right now. Guess I've got awhile to go.
Doctors made me give it up 5 years ago fought it all the way but learned to love it now I fish and hunt all I can and I do not worry about the bills it is amazing what you can do without that you used to think was essential now my only financial worry is that the last check I write will bounce after that no worries.
Noslab.
Still working. The best part is that I love my job. With out it I couldn't fish and hunt.
happy to be retired and happy to be fishing for last year and half
I think I have my wife thinking straight about what is important. I have a scheme going that will eliminate our mortgage... The one that I will never see paid off. It just don't make sense to me to make a 30 year note to a guy over 50.
Anyhow, I hope to "change carreers" in the next couple of years. Then maybe I will get to go fishing with Crappie Pro too.
DP
Gotta work 11 more years.
40 now, guess that gives me 20 to 25 more years of work to look forward too, unless i get lucky and win the lottery
Retired the first time in '86. Got bored, went back to work for a while, decided I could beat boredom and have been completely retired for 7 years. Lovin every minute of it. It has been a whole lot better since I found this forum and met so many of you. Ain't life grand.Hands ClappingHands Clapping
At least 30 more years for me:mad:
Was going to in Mar. 2010, and work couple of days a week. Trying to ease out and let son take over, but it may be another year and half, or next March. I think I could fish and hunt 5 days a week with no problem.
Been out for 4yrs im 59 love that corrupted union couldnt have been able to chase these fish fulltime without them!
I am 59 and have been self employed for over 30 yrs. I farm fruits and veggies and according to how most people view retirement I have been retired for 30 yrs. I work hard when I need to, fish when I am not working and enjoy both. I am hoping THE LORD comes back before I reach the age that the U.S. Gov. calls retirement age. If He does not I will keep doing what I am doing till I DIE.
